Shawn Michaels was one of the most popular Superstars of the Ruthless Aggression era, which is why he was regularly featured on the WWE Backlash match card during that time.

Shawn Michaels' four losses at WWE Backlash

At WWE Backlash 2003, The Heartbreak Kid joined forces with Kevin Nash and Booker T to take on the trio of Triple H, Ric Flair, and Chris Jericho. The King of Kings pinned Nash that night to pick up a win for his team. A year later, he unsuccessfully challenged Chris Benoit for his World Heavyweight Championship in a triple threat match also involving Triple H. Benoit ended up submitting Michaels to close the match and send the Canadian crowd home happy.

After securing a win at Backlash 2005, Michaels lost two matches on the trot as Shane McMahon and Vince McMahon defeated him in a tag team match where 'God' teamed up with Shawn. While at WWE Backlash 2007, Michaels was unsuccessful in a fatal-four way match for the WWE Championship, also featuring John Cena, Randy Orton, and Edge.
