John Cena returned to WWE this week, appearing on Smackdown Live. Cena's latest Hollywood venture, Bumblebee released in US theaters last week. Cena has quite a few movie projects lined up and hence, his return could be short-lived.

Cena switched to part-time status in 2016 after being the "top guy" for over ten years. Cena's departure led to Roman Reigns becoming the face of WWE. However, fans never fully accepted Reigns' positioning as the top guy.

WWE has been stuck in a limbo ever since Reigns left in October. The absence of the "main" guy has been felt tremendously. A superstar who can claim the status of "The Guy" is missing.

WWE will be desperate to find a new focal point for their programming when John Cena calls it a day once and for all. Who could step up and take the baton?

#5: The Velveteen Dream

The Dream has unlimited potential
The Dream has unlimited potential

A left-field choice to start off this list, but its not as unpopular as one may think. Velveteen Dream, f.k.a Patrick Clark, is arguably one of the best characters in professional wrestling today. At the tender age of 23, Velveteen Dream has created a name for himself in NXT and has proven to be one of the standout performers of this generation.

He is young, he is charismatic, and he is totally ready to grab the brass ring. He has proven again and again that he deserves to become the "guy" in WWE. He has mimicked Hulk Hogan on several different occasions, but if his personality is any indication, he may very well be the next Hogan!

His wrestling abilities are excellent and has wrestled exceptional matches against the likes of Tommaso Ciampa, Aleister Black and Ricochet.

Being a home-grown talent, WWE will definitely look to make him the star he deserves to be.

#4: Becky Lynch

The Man can definitely lead the company
The Man can definitely lead the company

The Man has become a icon in the last six months. Her potential has finally turned into reality and she has taken the whole wrestling world by storm. Becky Lynch is reborn, and is shining brightly in her new avatar.

WWE have never had a female superstar at the helm, and it will be no surprise to see Becky Lynch become the first ever female wrestler to main-event Wrestlemania soon.

WWE was largely disappointing in 2018, arguably only saved by the heroics of the Women's Division. One of the major factors was the rise of Becky Lynch as "The Man", which proves that the fans are interested in seeing the Irish Lasskicker become the face of the company.

Becky Lynch has all the tools to succeed as the top guy and is already receiving endorsements from main-stream media, including her countryman Connor McGregor!

#3: Johnny Gargano

Johnny Wrestling is arguably the best wrestler on the WWE payroll today. He wrestled the first ever five star match in WWE in over seven years, and followed it up with yet another classic less than three months later.

Johnny Gargano is pitted to be the next Daniel Bryan, simply because he is a massive crowd-favorite and has consistently defied the "underdog" odds. Gargano has a likable personality, which will enthrall the audiences of every generation.

A great likable persona coupled with tremendous wrestling abilities make him a potential superstar, in the mould of Shawn Michaels and Daniel Bryan.

Gargano is still 29 and has a long career ahead of him, and can very well position himself as the top guy in the company in coming years. Johnny Wrestling is here to stay and create magic!

#2: "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey was the main-stay of UFC for over three years alongside Connor McGregor. The Olympic Bronze Medalist was one of the top draws for the MMA promotion, and consistently shone as the fighter of the night.

Her recent inclusion into UFC Hall of Fame only solidify her credentials and stake her claim as the driving force behind the Women's Revolution in MMA.

Rousey has tremendous experience as the face of a company and can easily transition into that role in WWE. Fans were skeptical of the former UFC Champion when she first debuted on the main roster in January, but a string of entertaining performances have made her a superstar!

Ronda is in prime position to takeover the mantel of the top guy in the company, and with a rumored main-event matchup against Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania 35, she could become the "guy"!

#1: Seth Rollins

The Kingslayer, Seth Rollins is the de facto No.1 guy
The Kingslayer, Seth Rollins is the de facto No.1 guy

It's nonsensical to even think that Seth Rollins doesn't deserve the main-event status. He has shone brightly in the last six years as one of the top guys in the company. Rollins spent over 200 days as the champion in 2015, and provided entertaining bouts against the likes of John Cena, Brock Lesnar and Sting!

Seth Rollins was primed to replace Cena as the top guy in 2015 before he was unfortunately injured right before Wrestlemania season. This led to the crowning of Roman Reigns as the WWE Champion.

Rollins could never find his mojo after returning from injury, but since the turn of 2018, has transitioned into a full-fledged babyface.

Rollins is rumored to win the Rumble and face Brock Lesnar at Mania for the Universal Championship. It will be the perfect crowning for the Architect and he will be the perfect guy to lead WWE into the future!

What makes Sting special? His first AEW opponent opens up RIGHT HERE.
