MVP surprised everyone with his return in the 2020 Men's Royal Rumble match. The former United States Champion entered the match at #12, but WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar, eliminated him from the multi-man bout in just 24 seconds.

The returning Superstar then wrestled what was to be the last match of his career against Rey Mysterio on the RAW after Royal Rumble. However, he came back for another bout where the 2020 Men's Royal Rumble winner, Drew McIntyre, squashed him. After that defeat, he has been present backstage on Monday nights, with the rumor mills suggesting that he wants to lead a faction on RAW.

Tom Colohue mentioned that MVP has been pushing the creative team to give him a group of Superstars who are uncomfortable on the mic. Since MVP has immense experience of promos, he could take their careers to the next level. The backstage team, however, did not appear to entertain his idea.

As a result, even though he made his return at the Royal Rumble event, MVP will almost certainly miss WrestleMania 36.
