5 Superstars who deserve to win the Royal Rumble

Nakamura
Will the King of Strong Style win this year's Rumble?

The Royal Rumble is a revolutionary concept brought forward by the WWE. It became an annual tradition in the WWE starting from the first event in 1988. The winner of the Royal Rumble will get the opportunity to face the Champion of either Raw or Smackdown Live, at the main event of Wrestlemania.

30 superstars from both brands will go toe to toe against each other for the opportunity to secure a spot in the main event of Wrestlemania 34 in New Orleans.

We haven't seen an interesting Royal Rumble match since 2010 because it was quite predictable who will eventually win the match. Hence 2018's Royal Rumble must deliver on all aspects in order to please the WWE universe.

With that in mind, we'll have a look at the 5 superstars who deserve to win the Royal Rumble 2018.

#5 Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens should be in the main event of Wrestlemania 34

Kevin Owens is a kind of wrestler whom we get to see once in a generation. He differs from the so called prototype tall and muscular wrestlers. He stands for everything that Vince McMahon doesn't like in a wrestler. But he is one of the highly decorated superstars in the WWE because Triple H saw something in him that most people will not accept.

There is no denying that Kevin Owens is one of the talented wrestlers in the world right now and I guess it's safe to say that he is made for professional wrestling. He should've been the one to have gone into Wrestlemania 33 as the Universal Champion, instead, he had to drop the title to a part-timer in Goldberg.

Kevin Owens is one of the favorites going into Royal Rumble and rightly so. It will add more firepower to his ongoing feud with the Smackdown authority figures. If the rumors appear to be true then we can expect Daniel Bryan to turn heel and side with Owens and his best friend Sami Zayn.

#4 Finn Balor

Finn Balor
Finn Balor is over enough to face Lesnar at Wrestlemania 34

Vince McMahon might think that Finn Balor is not over with the crowd, but if you are watching Monday Night Raw every week you will see the multitude of fans going nuts when Balor makes his entrance down the ramp. He may not be a Vince McMahon kind of wrestler, but he does possess the charisma and in-ring talent to blow the roof off of any event he steps into.

He shocked the world when he became the first ever Universal Champion defeating Seth Rollins at Summerslam 2016. But things went downhill for him when he became a victim of an untimely injury due to which he had to relinquish the Universal Championship the next night on Raw.

He is yet to receive a one-on-one rematch for the title which he never lost and it can come to fruition if Balor manages to win the Royal Rumble on January 28, 2018, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. He can go on to Wrestlemania 34 to face the Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship. But the chances of that happening are very thin and that brings me to the next person on the list.

#3 Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns
Believe in the Big Dog!

Roman Reigns is the one who is rumored to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at Wrestlemania 34. This was the plan from the moment Brock Lesnar defeated Goldberg to win the title at Wrestlemania 33. I think it's safe to say that it's a matter of how and not if, and the Royal Rumble may be the right way to get Reigns to his 4th straight Wrestlemania main event, a feat that only Hulk Hogan had managed to achieve.

It's very much decided that Roman Reigns will be the one fill John Cena's shoes and the torch has already passed on to him when Cena laid down for the three count to put Reigns over at No Mercy. It's just a matter of time that Roman Reigns officially rises to the throne as the top star of WWE.

#2 John Cena

John Cena
Can John Cena add 1 more WWE Championship to his collection?

John Cena with 16 WWE title reigns, is at par with only the Nature Boy Ric Flair. He has been the top star of the WWE for the last decade and is one of the most respected wrestlers in the industry. One might sing John Cena sucks along with his music, but there is no denying the fact that he has earned the respect of every single person who is a fan of the sport.

John Cena has been the subject of allegations of burying young talent, but he proved that those are nothing but a myth during his recent run with the company. He knows more than anybody that his time is coming to a close and that he should step aside for younger talents. He is a firm believer of "what one gives to the business is more important than what he gets from it". The way he put over Shinsuke Nakamura and Roman Reigns clean proves that he is indeed a man to be respected.

WWE should have John Cena beat Ric Flair's record for the most WWE championship reigns, and having Cena win the Royal Rumble will open the door for one final Wrestlemania main event for him.

#1 Shinsuke Nakamura

Styles & Nakamura
We can see these two collide at Wrestlemania 34

It's being rumored that WWE is planning to have a smackdown superstar win the 2018 Royal Rumble and it's being speculated that Shinsuke Nakamura will be the one to win the match.

The King of Strong Style was the hottest act in NXT and he brought all the momentum he had to Smackdown Live when he made his main roster debut. He hasn't made a significant impact on the main roster yet, but that can change if Nakamura wins the Royal Rumble.

The dream match between AJ Styles and Nakamura can come to fruition if the latter wins the rumble and the two of them can tear the house down at Wrestlemania 34.
