Last week on WWE SmackDown, AJ Styles opened the night to celebrate his Intercontinental Championship victory. He made Daniel Byran put the belt around his waist after defeating the WWE Superstar a week earlier for the title.

Styles and the WWE Universe were treated to an unexpected surprise as Matt Riddle made his SmackDown debut and walked down to pick up a fight with The Phenomenal One.

The two men had a good match to kick off SmackDown, and Riddle was able to hit the BroDerek on Styles to pick up the victory.

During the match, we saw Corbin shoot a few words at Riddle, and it seems like WWE is planning to go down the route that was reported by Sportskeeda earlier.

This week, we could watch The King of Bros give a backstage interview during which Corbin must attack Riddle and remind him that he’s new to SmackDown while Corbin is the King of SmackDown.

This would allow WWE to immediately set up a big rivalry for the newcomer as give Corbin a chance to feature in another big rivalry. Corbin has been used generously by WWE to push other babyfaces, and Riddle could benefit the same way by facing the King of SmackDown.
