5 Things that could happen at WWE Survivor Series 2016

Fantasy Warfare Just Got Real

The WWE will present their annual Survivor Series event, this coming Sunday, November, 20th from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The event is sure to turn a lot of heads, as this will be just the second pay per view event, to feature talent from both Raw and Smackdown Live since the recent brand split.

The number of cross-brand matches is sure to add an interesting dynamic to the event. There will be three ‘Team Raw' versus ‘Team Smackdown Live' matches: a five-on-five men's match, a five-on-five women's match, and a ten-on-ten tag team match.

Fans can anticipate a number of things to take place but could be caught off-guard by certain twists. Who will retain their titles? Who will begin a feud against whom, and which allegiances will come to an end?

While some may consider these questions a mystery, events in recent weeks, have led us to believe the items listed below will happen. Here are five things WWE wrestling fans can anticipate happening at the 2016 Survivor Series.

#5 The Miz should retain

The Miz could be awesome at Survivor Series 2016

The Miz’s victory over Dolph Ziggler was a culmination of a compelling storyline and brought questions and criticism to an end. Fans were invested in Ziggler and always want to see him succeed, which made Miz's win that much more telling. Since joining the Smackdown Live brand, Ziggler came up short against Dean Ambrose, despite putting up a valiant effort.

He also lost to AJ Styles, who would eventually become the WWE World Heavyweight champion. These things suggested that, after losing countless times, future success for the Show Off was unlikely.

However, in his feud with The Miz, it became less about just winning the title, and more about the cost, Ziggler would pay in order to achieve it. Ziggler defeated The Miz to recapture the Intercontinental Championship. However, Ziggler's hard work and determination weren't enough.

So while it may have been hard to count Ziggler out, it feels impossible to count The Miz out, after doing whatever it took to recapture the Intercontinental Championship. It is difficult to count him out in his title defence at Survivor Series. It is unfortunate for Sami Zayn because the Intercontinental Championship will once again remain in SmackDown.

#4 Brian Kendrick should retain

Kendrick is the man with a plan!

When Brian Kendrick captured the WWE Cruiserweight title from TJ Perkins, it was a case of the truest heel and oldest cruiserweight in the division, doing whatever was necessary to win the championship. Something that has been sadly missing from the cruiserweight division is the development of the characters within it.

The only exception could be Kendrick; he has been presented as someone that is closing in on forty and battling hard because this could be his ‘last chance'. As a result, he is willing to throw friendships aside in his pursuit of success.

So why would the company dedicate so much time to him just to have him lose the title?

As announced by Daniel Bryan on the November 8th edition of SmackDown Live, he will defend against Kalisto, and if Kalisto wins, then the entire cruiserweight division would come to the blue brand. With Raw being the longer show, it has more time to dedicate to the division.

So it seems more fitting to have them stay where they are, rather than come to the shorter program in Smackdown Live.

#3 Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman will begin a feud

A new feud on the horizon?

There is nothing that even hints at it, however, if there was ever an opportunity for these two men to start a program with each other, it is during the five-on-five match-up. Since his debut as part of the Wyatt family, Strowman has not had a singles program against anyone on the roster.

They could have created makeshift feuds for him, against the likes of Mark Henry and The Big Show, but those never materialised.

A number of rumours have circulated since Strowman's debut, of what Vince McMahon's vision is for him. His size, strength and look, present the company with a true monster that can strike fear in his opponents and impose his will on anyone he chooses. This is where the thought of having Strowman work a program comes in.

Reigns, despite all the criticism, is a fine wrestler that can sell offence as well he can deliver it. And up to this point, no one has remotely put a dent in Strowman, or worn him down. This feud allows for him to not only be a beast but receive punishment from someone, whose size and strength is at least close to his.

#2 Randy Orton turns on Bray Wyatt

Will Orton finally turn on Bray?

When Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt finally came face-to-face with one another at No Mercy, Wyatt ultimately got the upper hand on the Viper, with assistance from Luke Harper. After that, it seemed as though Orton was about to receive reinforcements in the form of Kane, who has had issues with the Wyatt family in the past.

However, just when it appeared as if a tag match would take place, featuring Kane and Orton versus Wyatt and Harper, what happened, caught WWE fans completely off guard. Orton caught his partner with an RKO; something that appeared to catch, even Harper and Wyatt off guard.

It appeared that Orton had now joined the Wyatt family, though suspicions remain.

Although he appears to be walking the line between face and heel, intuition leads us to speculate that Orton is simply trying to deceive Wyatt into believing that he is one of his followers, only to surprise us all and stab Wyatt in the back. It may very well be that Orton is trying to get into Wyatt's head and that it will ultimately lead to a double cross.

#1 Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho end their friendship

Will we see the end of JeriKO?

They are the best of friends, but throughout their time working together, one of them has continuously been on the bad side of the friendship. On numerous occasions, Jericho has spoken up on behalf of his best friend, Kevin Owens. On one brief occasion, Jericho came to the defence of Owens against Owens', former best friend, Sami Zayn.

Jericho attacked Zayn with a phone and later faced him at a recent pay per view event. Jericho's unrelenting desire to prove his solidarity with Owens, while somewhat comical, does lead us to believe that Y2J, going completely over the edge, has to come at the most appropriate time.

While Owens has claimed that someone has to take a bullet for the team, it invariably is Jericho that is the one taking a pedigree, Superman punch, spear or any other kind of beating, while Owens is left to escape free without any consequence, holding his WWE Universal Championship.

During the five-on-five contest between Team Smackdown Live and Team Raw, Chris Jericho will snap and be applauded not only for beating down Owens but putting him on The List as well!
