5 Things that could happen when The Undertaker returns

What’s does the future hold for The Phenom?

Believe it or not, the news is official! Perhaps, the most revered wrestler in modern history, the legendary Undertaker, will make his comeback to Smackdown Live, with an appearance on the 15th November episode, at the Mohegan City Arena, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Maybe it is only a coincidence, that the episode is the go-home show before Survivor Series, the same PPV where Taker made his debut in 1990. What’s in the cards for us, as wrestling fans, considering that the legend may only have one last run left in his fuel tank?

We can only speculate, but here are some likely scenarios when he returns!

#5 Calling it a day

Sadly, this is a possibility that we must consider

Let’s get the pessimism out of the way first, before we move on to more cheerful topics. There was a picture of The Undertaker that surfaced not too long ago, on crutches. This is obviously, not a surprise, considering that he’s a man who’s put life and limb on the line, every single night that he stepped into the arena, for over two decades.

He is no longer in the prime of his youth, and as we saw with his dream opponent- Sting, The Undertaker’s time too may be coming to a close. Thankfully, the one argument against this theory, is that The Undertaker never breaks character. So an emotional farewell speech from him probably isn’t something that he’d be comfortable doing.

One thing is certain, even if he were to retire tomorrow, his body of work would guarantee The Undertaker a place in the WWE Hall of Fame almost instantly. Moving on...

#4 Assisting Kane against The Wyatts

Kane needs some backup to face The Wyatts + Randy Orton

Kane appeared on Talking Smack not long ago, and confessed to Renee Young as well as Smackdown General Manager, Daniel Bryan, that there’s only one person he trusted in the world- his brother, The Undertaker. Its quite apparent that the narrative has changed quite drastically since the late 90s.

This was following the heel turn from Randy Orton, who aligned himself with The Eater of Worlds- Bray Wyatt, and the man who never washes his clothes- Luke Harper. Now Kane, whose equity in the company has been long diminished, is in a program all alone, with three wrestlers who are, in all honesty, more ‘over’.

The Undertaker may just be the cavalry that Kane needs to fend off these demons. Maybe even just a one-off special appearance where Taker delivers a chokeslam, and the crowd goes wild.

#3 Dream match with John Cena

Will the Dream match happen at Wrestlemania 33?

This match was reportedly supposed to happen at Wrestlemania 32 before John Cena got hurt. The time is right, to see this battle of the legends, on the biggest stage of all- Wrestlemania 33. While we don’t know if The Undertaker can wrestle another match, if he had to go once again, this is the match to do.

Two certified legends from two eras, both of whom are two of the safest workers in the history of the business, is a tantalising prospect. Furthermore, defeating The Undertaker at Wrestlemania will also be the best opportunity for John Cena to earn a lot of heat, and go heel. WWE can hit two birds with one stone!

We tend to believe this rumour because Cena is on Smackdown Live, the brand Taker is reportedly returning to.

#2 Daniel Bryan’s representative

While this is far fetched, this won’t be a bad story

The Miz and Daniel Bryan have had a rivalry that began with Miz cutting a promo on Talking Smack. The essence of the promo was that he considered Bryan to be a coward, who could not step into the ring anymore, because of his medical condition. Of course, that was a shoot.

Daniel Bryan is officially retired and cannot compete anymore, at any level. But we see no sign of the Miz-Daniel Bryan feud dying. Not only did Bryan not make The Miz a part of the Survivor Series team, but he also did not book him in an IC Title rematch at Survivor Series.

Maybe, to prove that he’s not a coward, The Miz has to go up against The Dead Man...

#1 Inter-brand Wrestlemania 33 dream match

They’re only rumors now, but rumors often come true

The internet has been buzzing with a rumour, ever since Goldberg agreed to make his return to WWE, and face Brock Lesnar. Apparently, Goldberg’s deal is not one and done, and a dream match between these legends from WWE and WCW (which was often speculated at the height of the Monday Night Wars), is doing the rounds at the moment.

This is something that every wrestling fan from the 90s and early 2000s have dreamed about! And if this match were to materialise, it would mean big money for the company. It would be the perfect last hurrah for both men who’ve made their mark in sports entertainment history over time.
