5 Things that could come to pass with the Brand Split

What are the rumors floating around about the brand split?

It’s quite hard to get the WWE fans excited these days. However, just when WWE announced that they are going to bring back the brand split, the fans have been dreaming about the potential scenarios that could come with it. The prospect of seeing two sets of rosters and storylines competing to reign as the top brand is exciting indeed to begin with.

And considering that some of WWE’s best years came when there existed from competition outside or within the company, the brand split is bound to be successful. Ever since the announcement, there have been a string of rumors about the scenario and here is a look at them.

#1 Two Monthly pay-per-view events

More PPVs our way

One major question that arises with the brand split is regarding pay-per-view. As the whole roster was treated as one entity till now, the monthly pay-per-views had a big talent pool to choose from. But now that the brand split will be coming in, WWE needs to specify which pay-per-view belongs to which brand.

A rumor that surfaced about the same suggests that WWE will be holding two pay-per-views per month corresponding to the two brands that they will be having. With the WWE Network in place, this could be a good idea and at the same time, it allows to improve the competition within the brands as one will be looking to outclass the other in pay-per-view ratings, which by the way, is the actual purpose of the brand split.

#2 John Cena to lead the SmackDown brand with AJ Styles

AJ and Cena to lead the SmackDown brand

Both the brand needs some top names to carry them after the brand split, and the current names that are being thrown around for SmackDown are John Cena and AJ Styles. Cena is currently engaged in a feud with AJ Styles after Styles turned on Cena on Memorial day.

They will have their first match at Money in the Bank and this feud is expected to run through to SummerSlam which means that they are ending up in the same brand.

Also, having Cena on SmackDown instantly boosts the brand. Cena is the biggest draw that WWE has at their disposal and as the whole brand split is because of the USA network being unhappy about the ratings.

Having Cena on SmackDown is the right solution to that.

#3 Roman Reigns to lead the Raw Brand with Seth Rollins

Reigns and Rollins to stay on Raw

As John Cena and AJ Styles are expected to be the biggest draws of SmackDown, Raw could be led by Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns according to the rumors. Just like Cena and Styles, Rollins and Reigns are engaged in a feud that could run for a long time.

The fact that WWE wants to get Reigns over as ‘The Guy’ is evident from the booking, and for that, he needs to stay on Raw.

At the same time, splitting up the former Shield members in the name of Brand Split will not be a good idea, as a three-way feud between them is something that could put over any brand.

#4 Splitting the championships

Two titles?

The decision on the number of championships is something that WWE needs to make when Brand Split arrives. Currently, we only have main event level championship. However, if there is a brand split, WWE would need two.

The talk around the Internet suggests that WWE could be introduced a new ‘SmackDown’ championship which would in turn help John Cena to surpass the record of Ric Flair.

As far as the midcard championships are concerned, WWE is likely to keep the United States Championship in one brand when Intercontinental Championship will be on the other.

The situation regarding the tag team championships and the Women’s championship haven’t been addressed as yet, and anything could happen.

#5 Future of NXT and new signings

NXT is here to stay

With the brand split coming into place, the future of NXT is up for debate. Some suggest that NXT could be wiped out as a whole, but that would be outrageous. WWE still needs a developmental territory to groom upcoming talent so it’s safe to say that NXT will not be shut down.

However, expect huge changes.

A major portion of the NXT talent will be called up for the brand split, and WWE will be injecting new signings to make up for the same. They are already looking into names like Moose, Roderick Strong and many others.

Some of the wrestlers even confirmed that there will be call-ups from NXT, so it is going to be exciting times for the fans.
