5 Things that shouldn't happen at the coming RAW & SmackDown WWE 2019 Draft

Splitting up The OC may not be a wise idea
Splitting up The OC may not be a wise idea

There was a Superstar Shake-Up right after WrestleMania concluded that determined who should go to which WWE brand, either RAW or SmackDown Live. This was not a rule that was set in stone because soon after the rosters were set, the Wild Card rule was introduced.

The Wild Card rule pretty much diluted the brand split and in many ways, cut out TV time for a majority of the performers. But the good news is that with FOX moving to a brand new network, the rosters are going to be set in stone at last, with the upcoming WWE 2019 draft.

WWE needs to be extra careful this time with the picks because there's no Wild Card rule to save them, in case they make a mistake at the upcoming draft. Here's what I would personally like to see at this year's draft.

Feel free to leave a comment and let me know your thoughts in the comments section below...

#5 Gallows and Anderson on RAW, AJ Styles returns to SmackDown Live

Gallows and Anderson are two highly talented individuals that WWE presumably sees no equity in. It's only when they are paired with AJ Styles, that they are pushed to the very top of the card. This is why, unlike the previous draft, I don't want The OC to split up, and instead, I just want the trio to remain as a dominant unit.

There's also the chance of AJ Styles getting cheered as a babyface when he's all by his lonesome because of just how great he can be in the ring. But the biggest fear is that Gallows and Anderson will be forgotten when they're separated from the Phenomenal One. And that must not happen at any cost!

#4 Splitting up Nakamura and Zayn

I certainly understand why WWE would be tempted to split up Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura. Both men are exceptional competitors in their own right and Zayn deserves better than to be the mouthpiece of a man who speaks English to a degree, which is a commendable feat considering it's not his first language. I just think that not having Sami Zayn as the mouthpiece for 'The Artist' would be the death knell for the latter in WWE.

One of WWE's biggest issues is the fact that the company never lets storylines develop and blossom to their fullest potential when they should have the audience come along for the ride, forget the fact that it is scripted entertainment. The plug is pulled on multiple storylines before they have a chance to conclude and there's always the fear that this could also happen with Nakamura and Zayn. Down the line, either of the two men could turn babyface and these two gentlemen could take each other to the limit.

There's also the possibility of these two men bolstering the tag team division but none of that can happen if they happen to be split up.

#3 Making the 24/7 Championship specific to a particular brand

The best thing about the 24/7 Championship is certainly the unpredictability associated with the title. And so, if it becomes specific to either RAW (which is certainly a possibility as it was the USA Network that wanted it while SmackDown wants a real-sports-feel) or SmackDown for that matter, it will lose a great deal of what essentially makes it special.

And most importantly, I don't think that the duo of Carmella and R-Truth should be split up either. The two of them have great comedic timing when they're a unit, and they will lose a lot of that incredible chemistry if they are booked to be on two separate brands.

In fact, there should be a vast ocean of Superstars who chase after the title from Drake Maverick to the B-Team that should not necessarily be confined to either brand. This should be the one title that anyone should be able to win; from members of RAW and SmackDown to NXT, and even the 205 Live roster.

Will there be new characters who enter the 24/7 Championship picture once the draft happens with the Lucha House Party, etc. possibly joining the mix?

#2 Having the Kabuki Warriors on SmackDown

Asuka was an unstoppable force in NXT and also at the start of her run in the main roster. Somewhere down the line, presumably after her loss to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania, her streak came to an end and all of her mystique was lost. Kairi Sane was great in NXT but hasn't even shown a glimpse of her potential in the main roster.

I just think that the Women's Tag Team Championships are never a featured storyline in the minds of WWE creative, and if Asuka and Kairi Sane are drafted to SmackDown Live, they will go weeks without getting any TV time.

On RAW, on the other hand, there's that extra hour to fill, meaning that there's a bigger opportunity for them to appear on TV every week. 'Out of sight, out of mind' is what they aptly say for everyone, maybe other than Brock Lesnar.

So, these two women should be on RAW, and so should other tag teams such as Nia Jax and Tamina and of course, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. Putting them on SmackDown may just result in the titles being discontinued in the days that follow.

#1 Lesnar and Lashley end up on different brands

I just think that WWE has a bad habit of letting dream matches slip away when they have a chance to book the same. I mean they could have booked Sting vs. The Undertaker, when they had the opportunity, but instead, they booked Sting against Seth Rollins, who accidentally injured him in such a manner that he had to retire.

With Lesnar as WWE Champion, I'm guessing that there will be challenger after challenger essentially stepping up to him, but ultimately cannot get the job done because the long-term arc is dethroning the Beast Incarnate. I think that after all that's been made of the feud thus far, Lashley vs. Lesnar is a match that the fans deserve and one that they should get at SmackDown on FOX.

I mean they already had a legitimate MMA fighter in Bobby Lashley. Instead of going to Cain Velasquez, they could have gone for a match that fans have been clamoring for, for such a long time.

In any case, I do believe that Lashley should be on SmackDown and should challenge Lesnar for the title, down the line.
