5 Things WWE got just right on RAW after Hell in a Cell (Oct 7, 2019)

Fury and Strowman will battle somewhere down the line

Hell in a Cell started off strongly with a match between Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks for the RAW Women’s Championship but did not end as strongly, as the Universal Championship match ended in a no-contest.

This week’s RAW tried to build on that while keeping the final match from Sunday out of question completely and built towards new angles and feuds while setting their eyes on the Crown Jewel event.

This week’s show had a lot of character and team-building which was a welcome move for many Superstars, as we finally got the return of Aleister Black to the ring.

Apart from that, the action and the segments were tight and delivered exactly what they were meant to deliver.

In this article, we will look at the 5 things WWE got right on this week’s Monday Night RAW.

#1 Gave The Viking Raiders the place they deserve

The Viking Raiders' move to the main roster was met by much fanfare, even though a change in their names was not. The two men were holding the NXT Tag Team Championships when they arrived on the main roster and only gave them up after a few matches.

Since then, we had seen the dominating team compete in one-sided matches and squashes until they found some competition in for RAW Tag Team Champions The O.C. However, even The O.C. did not seem to be up to the mark of The Viking Raiders, and there remains little doubt that the two men are Championship material.

This week on RAW, the two men finally got their big chance against the current RAW Tag Team Champions Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler in a non-title match. The Viking Raiders were able to impress once again, and took out the Champions for a huge victory.

Not only will this move them into the RAW Tag Team Titles contention, but it could also open the doors to the return of Authors of Pain once they become the Champions.

#2 Built Rusev at the expense of two top heels

Rusev had been missing from action for quite some time and was only brought back thanks to a bizarre storyline involving Maria and the father of her child. While it seems like the 'Maria and Rusev' storyline has thankfully been washed down the drain, the storyline between Lana and Bobby Lashley is here to stay.

Last week on RAW, Rusev took on Seth Rollins in the main event of the night in a Universal Championship match. During the final moments of the match, Bobby Lashley made his big return, only to be accompanied by Lana, who made out with The AllMighty at the top of the ramp.

Rusev has been known to be a jealous boyfriend/husband, and his reaction from last week did not match his character and onscreen personality. After the WWE Unvierse pointed out the several flaws in the storyline, it seems like WWE learned something from the fans and gave us the reaction Rusev is known for.

This week, Rusev tore through two of WWE's biggest heels, King Corbin and Randy Orton. At a time when Corbin and Orton were laughing at Rusev's misery, the Bulgarian Brute decided it was time for some payback and dismantled both the men even before his scheduled match against Orton could even begin.

This was the right step to take, especially considering the fact that WWE is building a rivalry between Rusev and one of their strongest Superstars who was last seen in a feud with Braun Strowman.

#3 Showed the power of Braun Strowman and Tyson Fury

The Superstars raised hell outside the cell this week as WBC Heavyweight Boxing Champion Tyson Fury took the stage to demand an apology from Braun Strowman.

In case you missed the Season Premiere of SmackDown, Strowman got into a little confrontation with Tyson Fury, who was conveniently seated at ringside, and the two had another heated moment after the conclusion of an eight-man tag team match Strowman was a part of.

After Strowman interrupted Fury last night, a brawl broke out which led to many WWE Superstars coming out to the ring in their quest to restore order. After Strowman headed backstage and refused to apologize to Fury, he once again headed back to the squared circle where the brawl re-erupted.

This was a good way to build up a Superstar WWE has used effectively unless championships are in question, and a celebrity the world loves to see fight.

We could easily get a match between these two mammoths at Crown Jewel, but it would be even better if WWE holds onto this rivalry until Survivor Series and make things grander.

Regardless of where and when this match will take place if it actually ever does, it was a good move to give Strowman a night-ending segment on a show which was missing Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins, and some other top Superstars.

#4 Gave The Kabuki Warriors a HUGE victory

How do you begin a big title reign? By scoring one of the biggest victories possible.

As RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch and SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair sat down together on The Miz TV, the two spoke highly of themselves until differences started to emerge.

This brought out Asuka and Kairi Sana, known as The Kabuki Warriors, who just won their first Championships together at Hell in a Cell. The new WWE Women's Tag Team Champions trash-talked Becky and Charlotte in their native language and a match between the two teams was set.

Both the teams gave a great fight in the best match of the night and The Kabuki Warriors got the spotlight they so very well deserve. It is important to mention here that Asuka moved to the main roster as the most dominant woman the company had ever seen and is a former NXT and SmackDown Women's Champion.

After a great and fair fight, WWE allowed Asuka and Sane to build on their heel characters which allowed Asuka to use the green mist once again to blind Becky as Sane pinned her for the victory.

The green mist has become an iconic weapon for Superstars of Japanese descent and was made famous by Tajiri in WWE.

A victory against both the top female Champions not only increases the value of the teams but also takes forth their heelish antics which could make for some great storylines in the future.

#5 Kept Seth Rollins away from the ring

Taking Rollins out was the right thing to do
Taking Rollins out was the right thing to do

The final match of Sunday's Hell in a Cell pay-per-view saw Universal Champion Seth Rollins defend his Championship against 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt. This was arguably the most awaited match of the entire month, and the build-up to the match had begun well before the Clash of Champions pay-per-view.

After all the hype and the investment in the storylines, the creatives disappointed fans with a rather surprising ending to the match where it ended in a no-contest.

Both Rollins and Wyatt performed their hearts out, and Wyatt took an immense amount of punishment in order to sell his character perfectly. However, an after match beatdown from The Fiend saw Rollins bleeding from the mouth and left almost unconscious, something we'd expect from The Fiend.

WWE is used to using their top Superstars, especially Rollins, in multiple matches during the night and again on the next night to ensure they get all the focus.

While they must have deliberated the idea of using Rollins some way or the other on RAW last night, it was the right move to keep him away completely. This not only sells Wyatt's post-match attacks perfectly but also keeps the fans guessing whether Rollins picked up some major injury at the hands of The Fiend.
