Royal Rumble is all about surprises but there are few things which often does not go well with the fans.

Royal Rumble is one of the most awaited and exciting PPV of the year. There is perhaps a no better way to kick off the new year with a dynamic PPV like Royal Rumble.

Royal Rumble is an event where 30 men and now, even women compete to get a championship match against the World champion of their choosing. This is why it is said that the Road to Wrestlemania starts from Royal Rumble. Hence, it is evident how important this PPV is.

However, Royal Rumble isn't only important just for the winner. Royal Rumble is often used to introduce new talents as well as build the existing stars.

AJ Styles is one of the best examples of how important a PPV could be for a person even though if he does not win it. Kofi Kingston has a special reputation for pulling off wild moves that would make one jump of its seat.

Each year, fans eagerly wait for this PPV with a lot of expectations. However, a PPV with so many expectations has often failed to live up to the hype. Be it the choice of the winner or lack of surprises, WWE has faced a lot of criticism over the past few years.

This year seems no different. The expectations are high for surprise entrants such as Kenny Omega, Batista or maybe even The Rock.

There are also many strong contenders to win the event and hence the choice of the winner will be also extremely difficult as this is a make or break situation. Let us look at 5 things that we as fans don't want to see in this year's Royal Rumble.

#5 Meaningless entrants

Michael Cole had made an entry in the Royal Rumble as a participant

The Royal Rumble PPV has only 30 spots. WWE has more than 70 superstars in Raw and Smackdown Live itself. There will be entrants from NXT and 205 Live as well. Hence, it is very clear that each spot has to be earned.

However, as in the past, WWE has often wasted such spots which could have been utilized for a more deserving wrestler. In 2012, all the three commentators, Booker T, Jerry Lawler, and Michael Cole entered the Rumble.

Other than this, there are also several wrestlers who have often been added to the event without any real purpose. Many spots are often given to legends that don't really have the widest of the appeal.

Hopefully, this time the spots will be better used as there are many wrestlers who could use this PPV to have a great showing.

#4 Excessive eliminations by a single WWE Superstar

Braun Strowman holds the record for most eliminations in a single Royal Rumble match.

WWE often looks to build one particular wrestler in the Royal Rumble PPV. A simple method to achieve the same is to make him eliminate the most number of superstars.

However, WWE has opted for the same method for way too long. Roman Reigns broke the 13-year old record of Kane for most eliminations in a single Royal Rumble by eliminating 12 wrestlers.

Braun Strowman surpassed his arch-rival at the Greatest Royal Rumble with 13 eliminations. The monstrous push though could be achieved in a lot better ways such as building a strong ironman like Rey Mysterio in Royal Rumble 2006.

However, last year, most eliminations by a single wrestler were just 4 which ensured that more superstars had something meaningful to do instead of one superstar taking all the glory.

#3 Quick elimination

Santino Marella holds the record for the least time spent in the Royal Rumble.

For some reasons, WWE has a weird liking to have someone break Santino Marella's record of breaking the least time spent in the Royal Rumble. In 2009, Santino Marella was eliminated by Kane in a record one second.

However, since then, WWE has tried to break this record multiple times but has failed on each occasion. The last attempt was at the Royal Rumble 2018 where Sheamus was eliminated in just two seconds. Although the spot might be hilarious if pulled off right, the fans aren't always happy about it.

Royal Rumble 2019 will also be the 10th year anniversary of Milan Miracle's feat and considering WWE's love for this particular spot, we will probably see WWE doing it once again. Let's hope someone finally ties or breaks the record so that WWE gives up on this idea.

#2 Spoiled surprises

Let's be honest, the most exciting thing about the Royal Rumble are the surprise entrants. Each year, fans eagerly wait for that one entrance to make them jump out of their seats. However, in this era of wrestling where social media plays a huge role, it is indeed hard to keep surprises.

However, WWE found a way around it and decided to announce the entrants in advance. In 2014, WWE announced the return of Batista well in advance, which also played a key role when the fans turned on Batista when he won the event. This year, WWE has already announced that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are going to return soon.

So either through the social media or through WWE itself, these surprises are often spoiled and one can only hope that won't be any more spoilers.

#1 A Repetitive Winner

John Cena, who announced his entry into the Royal Rumble, has won the event two times in his career.

Royal Rumble is WWE's chance of creating their next megastar. With Roman Reigns taking time off wrestling and John Cena past his prime, WWE is looking for their next big thing. Luckily, the current roster is stacked with amazing talents.

There are various guys who are strong contenders for the same. Hence, this is that time where you really do not wish to see a repeat winner of the Royal Rumble.

There have been rumors of The Rock winning the Royal Rumble and dethroning Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. As good as it sounds, WWE should not let this opportunity go for a one time match.

The likes of Seth Rollins, Drew Mcintyre, and Finn Balor are ready and more than deserving to win the golden ticket to Wrestlemania.
