Brock Lesnar made his return to WWE in 2012 and immediately ignited a feud with John Cena, who lost to The Rock at that year's WrestleMania. Brock was gone from WWE for 8 years and during his time away from the company, he enjoyed success in UFC and NJPW.
John Laurinaitis, looking to bring legitimacy to WWE, brought Lesnar back and a match was set for Extreme Rules between him and Cena. This was The Beast's comeback match and he gave the 16-time World Champion a fight. He busted Cena open and beat him up in the most vicious match in recent memory.
Cena used his padlocked chain to open up Lesnar and he hit the latter with an Attitude Adjustment on the steel stair to win the match. This was a disappointing loss for Lesnar as it was his first match back in WWE.
