The Phenom made a surprise return to WWE at Battleground where he cost Lesnar his match against Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. 'Taker appeared on Raw the following night and a match was set-up between the two for The Biggest Party of the Summer. Undertaker pissed that Paul Heyman and his client kept bringing up the fact that The Beast conquered the streak, returned to avenge his legacy.

The ending of the match was quite controversial, as the timekeeper rang the bell after he saw The Deadman tapping out to Lesnar while he was locked in the Kimura Lock. Because the referee did not see 'Taker tap out, the match continued, and The Phenom capitalized by delivering a low blow to an inattentive Lesnar, allowing him to apply his own submission - the Hell's Gate.

Lesnar passed out and 'Taker was declared the winner. The Undertaker came out the weaker man despite winning the match, because not only did he tap out, but he also took the coward's way out, going below the belt. Fans were stunned at what just transpired and the two had a rematch at Hell in a Cell where Lesnar managed to get the win.
