Throughout the years, the WWE Universe has witnessed some of the finest talents step foot in the company. However, not everyone who makes it to the WWE ends up being a top Superstar. Not everyone has the capabilities of becoming the "top dog" and sometimes there isn't a place for some of the finest names at the top of the food chain in WWE.

The Ruthless Aggression Era, however, saw a talented wave of wrestlers make their way over to the WWE. But unfortunately for some, they ended up departing from the company without receiving a significant push, despite carrying the attributes of a top Superstar.

The WWE roster was stacked with talented men and women while the Ruthless Aggression Era was at its peak. But with a talent pool as huge as that, some exceptionally talented Superstars were shown the exit door.

However, if we were to compare those Superstars to the present-day WWE roster and system, then maybe some of the names on this list would end up becoming top stars.

That being said, in this list, we'll take an in-depth look at five underutilized Superstars from WWE's Ruthless Aggression Era who would've been top stars in modern-day WWE.

#5 Matt Morgan

Matt Morgan

The WWE Universe got their first glimpses of Matt Morgan years ago when 'The Blueprint' entered WWE's Tough Enough season II, but was eventually forced to leave the show due to an injury.

After a stint in Ohio Valley Wrestling, Morgan made his debut on the WWE main roster as he joined the SmackDown brand in 2003. Upon his arrival, Morgan was aligned with Team Lesnar and formed a tag team with Nathan Jones, that's good enough for a start right? Only that it wasn't!

With Jones quitting WWE a few months later, Morgan was paired with Lesnar. Now that definitely sounds like a big deal but for Morgan, but things went further downhill from there onwards.

As 'The Blueprint' failed to make an impression in the 2004 Royal Rumble Match, Morgan was quickly repackaged by WWE and upon his return, allied with Carlito. After a few months, the latter was drafted to RAW while Morgan was subsequently released by WWE.

Despite being 7ft tall and 300-lbs, Morgan was one of the most athletic in-ring competitors to have ever stepped foot in the wrestling business. And, the former two-time OVW World Heavyweight Champion would be the ideal "big man" in today's WWE, something similar to reigning WWE Universal Champion, Braun Strowman.

#4 Molly Holly

The WWE Women's Division during the Ruthless Aggression Era was pretty much built around two iconic names in the form of Trish Stratus and Lita. The two WWE Hall of Famers had quite the number of classics against each other on pay-per-view and even on Monday Night RAW.

Both Stratus and Lita were the focal point of the WWE Women's Championship picture in the mid-2000s.

However, if there's anyone who also deserves a spot in the conversation for being one of the best female wrestlers in WWE history, then it certainly has to be Molly Holly. Often stuck in the mid-card, Molly Holly proved her worth as an in-ring competitor and still remains as one of the finest to step foot in the squared circle.

Currently 42, Molly Holly remains another underutilized Superstar from the Ruthless Aggression Era. However, the former two-time WWE Women's Champion could've easily been the gatekeeper for the younger generation of Superstars in today's WWE.

Matches against the likes of the very talented Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair, and Io Shirai would certainly be a treat for the WWE Universe. And recent history also proves that the former WWE Hardcore Champion is still capable of competing with the very best after she recently entered the 2020 Women's Royal Rumble Match.

Holly was definitely a workhorse in the Ruthless Aggression Era and comparing her work ethic with the modern day stars of the WWE Women's Division, the WWE Hall of Famer would fit right in the present-day style of WWE.

#3 Mark Jindrak

If you're familiar with the illustrious Evolution faction, then you probably should be aware of who Mark Jindrak is. The former CMLL Heavyweight Champion was initially set for a place as the powerhouse of the Evolution faction alongside Triple H, Randy Orton, and Ric Flair but WWE eventually decided to move forward with Batista as the enforcer of the group.

In a recently released Evolution episode of the Ruthless Aggression Era series on the WWE Network, Triple H claimed that he believed Jindrak wasn't mature enough for the stable and the latter also agreed with The Game's assessment.

Nevertheless, that certainly doesn't take away from the fact that Jindrak is a brilliant wrestler. Standing at a 6 ft 6 in, Jindrak could've easily been portrayed as a wreaking machine back in the day and even in today's WWE.

However, much like Matt Morgan, that also wasn't the case to be for the 42-year-old and considering how good Jindrak still is inside the ring (Don't believe me? Watch this!), the current CMLL star is still capable of competing in the ring with some of the finest names in the business.

The former WWE star is also as athletic as they come and despite competing in Mexico for the past few years, Jindrak is still familiar with the western in-ring style of work.

The first-ever American CMLL World Champion would definitely fit into a division consisting of Keith Lee, Damien Priest, and Dominick Dijakovic, all of whom are athletic big men who are mostly known for pulling all the stunts in the ring.

Could you imagine Mark Jindrak and Matt Morgan as a part of today's WWE? Now that would be a sight to behold!

#2 Melina

Melina Perez
Melina Perez

Melina first arrived in the WWE in 2003 and quickly rose to stardom when she made her official debut as the manager of the MNM tag team. While being the manager of the group, Melina developed her character to be more egoistic and declared herself as "the most-dominant diva in WWE".

And if you ask me, Melina's gimmick surely clicked with the WWE Universe and still remains pretty memorable.

After being drafted to RAW, Melina kick-started her singles career and finally showcased her skills as an in-ring competitor. So much so, she was awarded three Women's Championship and two Divas Championship reigns during her tenure with the WWE. She was also labeled as one of the best wrestlers in the world (Which she undoubtedly was and still is) by Bret Hart himself.

Melina is currently a part of the National Wrestling Alliance and while she continues to be a vital part of their women's roster, the former three-time WWE Women's Champion could easily return to her former promotion for one more run.

This time, I'm pretty sure WWE would be aware of how to properly book Melina and with a women's division as stacked as WWE's, as the possibilities are endless for the number of dream matches she could have in WWE.

Melina's addition to the present-day WWE Women's Division, especially as a heel, would add a lot more depth to the division in general, considering the fact that WWE only has the likes of Shayna Baszler, Nia Jax, and Ruby Riott among the few heel female Superstars.

#1 Mr. Kennedy

Mr. Kennedy

Is there a bigger missed opportunity in WWE than Mr. Kennedy? I mean, back in the day, who wasn't a fan of this guy and his tremendous promo skills? Take a look for yourself - Mr. Kennedy could've easily been a top star in today's WWE with the mic skills.

However, thanks to an untimely suspension back in 2007, Kennedy's big-time push was gone for good.

Being a holder of the prestigious Money In The Bank briefcase, Kennedy was bound to become a WWE World Champion. But by the end of it all, the only major accolade that Ken Anderson has to his name is just one single run with the WWE United States Championship.

Following his departure from WWE, Kennedy enjoyed a successful run in TNA where he had the privilege of holding the TNA World Heavyweight Championship on two different occasions.

Much like Melina, the former WWE Superstar was also recently seen competing for NWA. However, with the amount of talent WWE currently holds in terms of Superstars with tremendous mic-skills, Kennedy would surely fit right into the present-day WWE roster.
