When Goldberg made his WWE debut in 2003, he became a dominant force. He defeated RAW's top heels at the time, including The Rock, Chris Jericho, and Triple H. Much like WCW, he held a brief undefeated streak in WWE that lasted until SummerSlam 2003.

In the summer of 2003, Goldberg began his chase for Triple H's World Heavyweight Championship. His first opportunity took place inside the Elimination Chamber, which involved four other challengers apart from himself and Triple H. The other competitors involved were Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels, and Kevin Nash.

With this being the second Elimination Chamber match, it was interesting to see familiar participants, but also new ones. Goldberg would make a formidable performance during the match as he eliminated half of the participants. He would pull a clean sweep by eliminating Orton, Michaels, and Jericho.

Goldberg's dominance during the match came to an end after he took a hit with a sledgehammer from Triple H. This was unexpected as Goldberg lost due to an attack from a weapon instead of Triple H's pedigree. The finish also marked Goldberg's first loss in the WWE as well.
