5 Wrestlers with the best record at the Money In The Bank PPV

Is there a place of these two?
Is there a place for these two?

Initially started as a staple for WrestleMania in 2005, Money in the Bank gained fan following and evolved into a pay per view of its own in 2010.

The success of the event in the subsequent years can be deduced from the fact that it was the only B-level cross-branded pay per view in WWE's list before the scrapping of brand-specific pay per view.

Even though the event has only been in existence for nine years, there have been several superstars who have had some of their best matches in the company at this event.

CM Punk and Dean Ambrose had their crowning glory moment in 2011 and 2016, whereas Styles and Owens reached superstardom against Cena in consecutive years.

With Money in the Bank 2018 taking place in one of the most prominent sporting arena in the World, several superstars would love to make a serious impact and improve their record at the event.

Until then, here are the five superstars who have the best record in the history of the pay per view.

Honourable mentions

The Lunatic Fringe has two big wins to his name in one night.

Dean Ambrose

Ambrose has a unique distinction, along with Kane, of winning two matches at the same edition of the pay per view, which he achieved by winning the Ladder Match and his cash-in match later that night to win WWE Title in 2016. However, the Lunatic Fringe lost in all his previous appearances, giving him a win-loss record of 2-3

Alberto Del Rio

Just like Ambrose, Del Rio was on the victorious side on two occasions and faced defeat in the remaining three appearances.

Losses in 2012, 2014 and 2016 were accompanied by Ladder Match win in 2011 as well as a successful World Title defense against Dolph Ziggler in 2013.

#5 Sheamus

The Celtic Warrior surprisingly won the namesake match in 2015.

It's really hard to digest the fact that not only was Sheamus a part of the inaugural Money in the Bank in 2010 but was also the winner of that year's main event.

In fact, Sheamus has been part of seven of the eight editions of the event and has some of the biggest victories to his name.

The inaugural edition had The Celtic Warrior successfully defend his WWE Title against John Cena in a Steel Cage Main Event Match thanks to an interference by Nexus.

He again had a successful World Title defense two years later, when he defeated Del Rio in 2012. However, his crowning glory came in 2015, when he outlasted six other superstars to win the Money in the Bank ladder match.

He suffered his four losses to Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton, Cena and Apollo Crews, the first three of which came in Ladder Matches.

#4 (Tied) Kofi Kingston and Big E

Big E(left) and Kingston(right) have similar win-loss record.
Big E and Kingston have a similar win-loss record

The members of The New Day not only share four Tag Team Title reigns between themselves, but they also share a similar win/loss record at Money in the Bank. While Kofi Kingston has been part of six events in the last eight years, Big E wrestled in four matches in the same time interval.

While the duo shares two victories over three other teams in 2016 and The Usos in 2017, the same cannot be said about their losses.

Kingston, who won a dark tag team match with R-Truth in 2012, lost three MITB ladder matches in 2010, 2011 and 2014 to Kane, Bryan and Seth Rollins. Big E, on the other hand, tasted defeat in 2014, at the hands of Rusev, and in 2015, with Xavier Woods against Prime Time Players, giving him two wins and two losses.

With only one of them participating in this edition, we might see a sole owner of this rank next year.

#3 John Cena

Cena has more critically acclaimed matches at the event than anyone else.
Cena has had more critically acclaimed matches at the event than anyone else.

Just like Sheamus, Big Match John has accomplished everything in the nine-year history of the pay per view. He has wrestled instant classics, he has won World Titles, and has even successfully defended World Titles.

In fact, he was on the losing end in the main event of the inaugural edition, when he failed to regain WWE Title from Sheamus. He, however, dropped the WWE Title to CM Punk next year in one of the greatest matches of all time.

Between 2012 and 2015, Cena won four matches in a trot at Money in the Bank. He won the MITB ladder match in 2012 and defeated Mark Henry to retain WWE Title in 2013.

He again won a ladder match in 2014, winning the WWE Title in the process, and then wrestled a Match of the Night with Kevin Owens in 2015. Cena's winning momentum was halted in 2016 when AJ Styles defeated him in a critically acclaimed match.

#2 CM Punk

Biggest win of Punk's career.
Biggest win of Punk's career

Inarguably the best competitor in the 13-year history of the MITB Ladder match, CM Punk has an equally good record to his name when it comes to having matches at the pay per view.

Although Punk has wrestled less than other men on this list at the pay per view, it's his win/loss record and the significance of his wins that put him so high on this list.

After failing to make it to the main card in 2010, Punk wrestled the greatest match in the history of the pay per view when he defeated Cena to win the WWE Title in 2011 in front of his home crowd.

He followed this win with an equally good WWE Title defense against Bryan in a No DQ match in 2012.

His dream of winning a third MITB ladder match were shattered in 2013 when his manager Paul Heyman betrayed him, giving him his only loss in the history of the event.

#1 Seth Rollins

The KingSlayer is the real Mr. Money in the Bank.
The KingSlayer is the real Mr. Money in the Bank.

The hottest superstar in the WWE right now, Seth Rollins has a near perfect record at Money in the Bank, with his only loss coming in an impromptu matchup.

He has done it all at this pay per view event - Defended a title, won a title, lose a title and earn a title shot. In just five years, Rollins has emerged as the most efficient performer in the event's history.

The Architect started his winning spree with a brilliant tag title defense with Roman Reign against The Usos in the pre-show in 2013.

He followed this up with an even better victory in the MITB ladder match in 2014. A victory over Ambrose in a WWE Title ladder match in 2015 was succeeded by a WWE World Title victory over Reigns in 2016.

Rollins only loss came when Ambrose successfully cashed in his MITB contract after Rollins' victory over Reigns in 2016. With such an incredible record, The KingSlayer is the real Mr. Money in the Bank.
