#2. Hope isn't true: WWE put themselves in a booking mess with Otis as Mr. Money in the Bank

WWE put themselves in a big booking mess by having Otis win the Money in the Bank briefcase. While Asuka winning the women's version made a lot of sense, Otis winning made none.
Otis had a lot of momentum behind him. Still, the decision to have him become Mr. Money in the Bank seemed impulsive, and ultimately, he was never going to dethrone Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, or Randy Orton.
According to Dave Meltzer on WON, the reason why WWE took the briefcase off Otis and put it on The Miz is for Otis to avoid damage by failing to cash in the MITB briefcase:
"The other major storyline was The Miz winning the Money in the Bank briefcase, beating Otis, when Tucker turned on Otis. The reality is that the briefcase on Otis had a booking problem. It's okay for a heel to be embarrassed to blow the nearly automatic title win, or a face like John Cena who is established. But Otis failing, especially with Reigns as champion, does him no good and while he could beat Reigns and they could make a star, nothing they do right now indicates that direction. Tucker turning on him against Reigns would have been more powerful, but this was a different way to do it."
We hope this isn't true, but it appears to be the case of WWE just making a bad decision and being unsure of how to work their way around it.
