He was scheduled to face the Beast Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, but was replaced by Finn Balor. With rumors of Brock leaving WWE before Wrestlemania, it makes sense to put the championship on the shoulders of the Monster among Men in the foreseeable future.
