Shawn Michaels' career-threatening injury in 1998 caused him to miss several important story-lines. He could have been a major part of the Attitude era. He could have feuded with and wrestled some of the best Superstars of that time, whom he couldn't face after his return due to the brand split or other reasons. At Wrestlemania 22, Shawn Michaels was supposed to face one such Superstar.

Court Bauer revealed that Bruce Prichard pitched a dream match for Wrestlemania 22 to Vince McMahon between Shawn Michaels and Eddie Guerrero. The idea was discussed a day or two before Eddie's death. According to Bauer, Vince was really impressed with this idea. Prichard also suggested doing parallels of their careers and Vince was impressed by this idea too and asked for footage of Eddie Guerrero they had outside of WCW.
The feud would have been one of a kind and the match would have overshadowed any other match that followed it. Eddie's tragic death caused those plans to be changed and Michaels ended up facing Vince McMahon at the Show of Shows.

Ali Siddiqui is a listicle and feature writer for Sportskeeda Wrestling since 2018. After completing his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, he decided to write for Sportskeeda Wrestling after learning about it through a friend. He briefly worked for The Sportster as well.
Ali's love for pro wrestling dates back to when Randy Orton won a Battle Royal to become the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2004. His current favorite wrestler is Cody Rhodes because he's the ultimate throwback babyface. He believes Rhodes has the Surfer Sting's passion, Bret Hart's prop-gifting schtick, a catchy theme like Hogan's, and a kid-friendly demeanor akin to John Cena's.
When he is not doing research for his articles on Google or catching up with the latest in pro wrestling, Ali can be found honing his Data Science and AI skills as he strives to get back into tech in the near future.
