6 interesting things that could happen on Raw & SmackDown this week

Will we have a new champion by the end of Tuesday?
Will we have a new champion by the end of Tuesday?

Between the Money in the Bank pay-per-view and Super ShowDown, WWE hasn’t really gotten too much time to create proper build-ups towards the next major event for Saudi Arabia. This has further been impacted by All Elite Wrestling’s first event Double or Nothing last week, which saw fans enjoy the new promotion’s first event.

Since a couple of matches, such as Goldberg vs. The Undertaker and Triple H vs. Randy Orton don’t really require much of a build up due to the names involved in the match, it is always better to have a story going to make the showdown more memorable.

This week, we expect WWE to keep their complete focus on the major event in Saudi Arabia and ensure that they deliver an event which will help increase their overall viewership and ratings.

In this article, we will look at the 6 things that could happen on Raw and SmackDown this week on the road to Super ShowDown.

#6 Roman Reigns teams up with Lance Anoa’i

Last week’s Raw introduced us to a new face who is still undergoing his WWE training, Lance Anoa’i.

Lance represented the Samoan Dynasty and is part of the same family that Roman Reigns belongs to. Shane McMahon battled the newcomer in a match which saw outside interferences from Drew McIntyre make things much easier for Shane who managed to pull off a rather quick victory without too many moves.

Who is Lance Anoa'i? Find out right here!

After the match, Shane and McIntyre continued to beat down the member of the Anoa’i family until Roman Reigns’ music hit and The Big Dog made the save, sending both Shane and McIntyre running for cover.

While most of us expected Lance’s appearance on Raw to be a one-off affair, the fact that he has been introduced into a red-hot rivalry involving the top superstars in WWE, and also judging from his Tweet from last week, we can expect him to show up a few more times.

Will Reigns and Lance team up this week to take on Shane and McIntyre or Elias?

#5 An impromptu tag team match

SmackDown deserves an explosive tag team match

On Friday we will witness the third pay-per-view to be held in the Saudi Kingdom. Among many matches that will take place during the event, one of the better matches to expect will involve Finn Balor and Andrade for the Intercontinental Championship.

Finn Balor received some injuries during the Money in the Bank ladder match a couple of weeks back, many of which were inflicted at the hands of Andrade. Since then, the two have only been able to work on a build-up towards their match through promos.

Check out 5 little known facts about "The Demon" Finn Balor

WWE could set-up a tag team match with Finn Balor and Ali on one side, and Andrade and Buddy Murphy on the other.

Ali defeated Andrade a couple of weeks ago, while Buddy Murphy has been sending warnings to his former 205 Live opponent since a few weeks.

Will we watch a great clash this week between four of the fittest and most athletic men in WWE today? It seems all the more likely keeping in mind the build-up to the big event.

#4 A new United States Champion is crowned

Who will become the new United States Champion?
Who will become the new United States Champion?

A couple of weeks ago, Samoa Joe destroyed Rey Mysterio after their clash at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Their first encounter for the championship saw Joe embarrass the future Hall of Famer in front of the WrestleMania crowd. On Sunday, Mysterio returned the favor and embarrassed Joe with an ordinary roll-up pin for the win and took home the United States Championship.

While the controversial victory earned Mysterio his first ever US Championship win, the beating earned him a separated shoulder. This now requires Mysterio to relinquish his United States Championship, and Joe said he is willing to “gift” Rey a chance to hand him back the title.

Even though there are quite a few men deserving of getting a match for the vacated title, it is a possibility that Mysterio will shock everyone with an unexpected decision.

Will Mysterio relinquish the championship to his son Dominick to further infuriate Samoa Joe, and kickstart Dominick’s wrestling career?

#3 Lacey Evans & Charlotte Flair put their differences aside

Will the two women get on the same page again?
Will the two women get on the same page again?

Last week on SmackDown, Lacey Evans got her first chance at the SmackDown Women’s Championship which is currently held by Bayley. While Lacey’s rise to the top has been nothing short of fast-tracked, she failed to impress once again and lost the match to The Hugger.

While that was a huge blow to The Sassy Southern Belle as she has now competed for both the top titles and lost, it was a post-match brawl with Charlotte Flair that has possibly created an even bigger problem for her.

Both the heels had worked together in the past against Becky Lynch, and their alliance seemed to be extremely threatening until last week’s brawl.

It’s possible that the two women will meet up in a segment this week and decide to put their differences aside for one single aim which is to hold a top title in the company. With The Man having Nikki Cross by her side now, will Evans and Flair work together as a tag team, and possibly even get into the Women’s Tag Team titles picture too?

#2 The Money in the Bank contract cash-in meets a roadblock

The contract has become just a little more special
The contract has become just a little more special

Last week, Brock Lesnar learned about a very special rule of the Money in the Bank contract which he surprisingly wasn’t aware of. Lesnar was told that he had one full year to cash in his contract whenever he wanted.

This gave rise speculations that Lesnar will hold out for a while before making a surprise cash-in sometime later after a proper build-up. Even though that was the case, Paul Heyman took to Twitter to declare that his client would take a proactive rather than reactive strategy and would cash in on Rollins this Monday.

However, Lesnar’s “disrespect” towards the Money in the Bank contract has led to the McMahon family opening of an executive review to determine Lesnar’s punishment.

Will Brock Lesnar try to cash in his contract on Seth Rollins this week, only to be interrupted by either Vince or Stephanie McMahon who will “suspend” the superstar for an indefinite period?

Will this create an interesting situation for the Super ShowDown event where Seth Rollins will take on Baron Corbin to defend his title, and the threat of a cash in by Lesnar will be at its peak? It’s all possible and we will only be sure after this week’s Raw!

#1 The Undertaker sends a chilling warning

Will The Undertaker play mind games with Goldberg?
Will The Undertaker play mind games with Goldberg?

The Undertaker is set to make a long-awaited appearance on Raw this week. The last time we saw Undertaker on television was on the night after WrestleMania 35 when he interrupted Elias’ performance and sent him straight to hell.

The Deadman’s appearance will be nothing short of iconic, as he will appear to send a warning to his SuperShowDown opponent, Goldberg. Since the match is one of the biggest ones on the card, The Undertaker might just appear at the end of Monday’s transmission.

The Undertaker has a few options to send a warning to the man who he will face for the first time in his career, but the most impactful one will include him attacking Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar was responsible for ending Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania 30 and also beating him the following year at Hell in a Cell. Lesnar was also the last man to defeat Goldberg in his last match which took place at WrestleMania 33 for the Universal Championship.

It would make a great story if The Deadman appears after Lesnar is denied his contract cash in, and delivers a Tombstone to the former Universal Champion to send a loud and clear warning to Goldberg.
