While we certainly can't confirm it, Clash of Champions 2020 seems to have been the end of the Drew McIntyre-Randy Orton rivalry. While we admittedly predicted that Randy Orton would win the WWE title and that the ambulance match was a stipulation to protect Drew McIntyre, the opposite ended up being true.

Instead, Drew McIntyre not only won, but he retained in the least-impressive fashion since winning the WWE title at WrestleMania 36. Now, the Clash of Champions co-main event was excellent in its own right. Running for over 20 minutes, the two had a war that wasn't a "methodical" match on Randy Orton's part.

Instead, Randy Orton had the ghosts of his recent past haunt him at Clash of Champions 2020 as he was attacked by Big Show while still in the ring, Christian backstage and a Sweet Chin Music from Shawn Michaels before being lightly shoved off the ambulance roof.

We're not sure how WWE intends to set up a Hell in a Cell match between the two, but it seemed to be a payoff of sorts after the brutal beatings that Randy Orton had given the legends. The cherry on the cake was Ric Flair driving him away in a door-less ambulance.
