This is what happens when you infuriate He-who-must-not-be-named. Baron Corbin was in the midst of a decent mid-card push when he won the Money in the Bank briefcase.
This could have been his moment to shine and elevate himself to an upper card level status. Instead, in a case of unexplainable booking, his cash-in failed to win him the title.
Not only did the cash-in fail, it was unmemorable, to say the least. It didn't contribute anything to the storylines and just seemed like a cheap way to get the briefcase off Baron Corbin.
