When Matt Hardy returned to the WWE in 2017 alongside his brother Jeff Hardy, fans were excited. It had been over half a decade since either Hardy had been a part of WWE, and in their time away, Matt had created the entertaining 'Broken' gimmick in Impact Wrestling.

Though it took some time, this damaged side of Matt eventually appeared in WWE as 'Woken' Matt Hardy, and the former ECW Champion even had a feud with Wyatt himself.

After teaming up and capturing the RAW Tag Team Championships, Hardy would later rejoin sides with his brother Jeff, but hasn't been seen on WWE TV in quite some time. This was partly thanks to Jeff's leg injury which forced the pair to forfeit the SmackDown Tag Team titles in April this year.

With Matt being AWOL for months now, having him realign with Wyatt could certainly be interesting, and lead to a darker, more sadistic side to the Woken character.

This could also lead to a very interesting feud between the new Matt and his brother, when the Charismatic Enigma returns from his injury.
