CM Punk quit WWE following the 2014 Royal Rumble, and since he wasn't around to face Triple H at WrestleMania 30, WWE had to come up with a plan for the former World Champion. It revolved around Daniel Bryan and his newfound popularity.

After Bryan was told he wasn't good enough to face The Game at the Show of Shows, he took over Monday Night Raw and refused to leave the ring until Triple H accepted the match against him.

It was then made clear that if Bryan was able to defeat Triple H, he would be placed in the main event match between Batista and Randy Orton, which would then become a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship.
Bryan didn't have it easy because he had to battle Triple H earlier that night. He was able to make Batista tap out, becoming World Heavyweight Champion.
