#3: Two fans attempt to get at Diamond Dallas Page--but only get beat down.

Diamond Dallas Page was once nearly attacked by two fans but was saved, embarrassingly enough, by a humble referee.
Diamond Dallas Page was once nearly attacked by two fans but was saved, embarrassingly enough, by a humble referee.

Way back during the Monday Night Wars on December 15, 1997, DDP was doing a promo in the ring on World Championship Wrestling Monday Nitro.

As usual, Diamond Dallas Page was putting his all into the interview segment, but suddenly there were two unexpected critics who took to voicing their displeasure through physical means. The two fans jump the barricade and rush the ring. One of them is taken down by security while still on the apron.

The other, however, actually makes it into the ring--before he runs into the iron hands of five foot three inch one hundred pound referee Mark Curtis. Curtis takes down the would-be assailant with a palm strike to the mush.

When the attacker hits the mat, he is kicked in the head before Curtis drags him to his feet and applies what looks like for all the world a Tongan Death Grip or iron claw move. Thankfully security moves in to save the fan before Curtis could apply his finishing hold!
