8 Inter-Brand faceoffs we must see at Survivor Series

WWE has been teasing a Shield reunion for weeks now

As Mauro Ranallo keeps reminding us, week after week, Survivor Series is the only time this year that Raw and Smackdown superstars will come face to face (obviously, the Brock Lesnar vs Randy Orton confrontation from Summerslam has been long forgotten by WWE).

Raw and Smackdown have picked incredibly solid teams from not only their singles division but also their tag teams and their women’s roster.

What is incredibly thrilling for us as wrestling fans are the mark-out moments that we’ll probably get to experience when these superstars come face to face with one another. They may be on opposing brands, but they all have unfinished business with one another.

Here are some must-see confrontations that are bound to happen at Survivor Series, that are certain to be quite awesome indeed.

#8 Brock Lesnar/Shane McMahon

This storyline is definitely unresolved, and will play out

At the conclusion of the Brock Lesnar vs Randy Orton match, Shane McMahon interfered and was F5ed by ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar. Stephanie McMahon had said that Lesnar would be punished, but merely a meager fine of $500 was levied upon him (in the storyline).

With rumours of a future confrontation between these two men doing the rounds, we wonder if the seeds for a future feud would be planted here. This is a big ticket match, and plans for Wrestlemania generally begin as early as Survivor Series. Let’s see if these two legends face off at the PPV.

#7 AJ Styles/The Club

This could be yet another phenomenal moment

It was quite inexplicable why Styles was separated from Anderson and Gallows during the brand split a few months back. Sadly, this meant that Japan’s most dominant tag team were relegated to the position of silly cartoon characters on Raw, and have suffered since.

While they’re in separate matches, we anticipate a backstage confrontation between these guys and who knows, they may even interfere in each other’s matches if booked right. The Club’s internal ties are far stronger than allegiance to any brand and that might end up being the case come Survivor Series.

#6 Bayley/Carmella

How will these besties face off against each other?

Bayley and Carmella have faced each other in NXT before in quite entertaining bouts! But then again, Bayley has not faced the new heel Carmella, who’s always trash talking and attacking the babyfaces from behind. Now they’ll both come face to face, and take on each other for the first time since they came to the main roster.

How will Carmella react to her best friend stepping into the same ring as her? We really can’t wait to find out at Survivor Series.

#5 Enzo/Cass/Carmella

Well, what do we got here? A coupla friends!

Big Cass and Carmella are dating in real life. But even on screen, Carmella was the valet for Enzo and Cass until they were called up to the main roster and she wasn’t. While she did get called during the brand split, Enzo and Cass were picked by Raw, and Carmella by Smackdown Live.

We really don’t know how the Certified Gs will react to this new attitude of the Princess of Staten Island. If they do meet backstage, the segment will certainly not be SAWFT.

#4 Bray Wyatt/Braun Strowman

Will the black sheep acknowledge his shepherd?

Nobody has benefited from the brand split like Braun Strowman has. While The Wyatt family was drafted to Smackdown, Braun remained on Raw and has thrived as a squasher of jobbers for many months now. In fact, Raw has booked him better than a lot of other top stars in the brand today.

Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman are almost certain to face off during their Survivor Series contest. We wonder what the outcome of the confrontation will be? Does Bray still have sway (pardon the rhyme) over his black sheep today? Will Braun turn on his master? Survivor Series should be interesting in a lot of ways.

#3 Seth Rollins/AJ Styles

This is any wrestling fan’s dream contest

This is almost certain to happen during the course of the Men’s Survivor Series contest. And when this face off happens, every smark in the audience will go wild with glee. This is a wrestling match that anyone who’s into the art of professional wrestling would kill to watch. A match between the two best wrestlers in WWE!

Here’s an interesting bit of trivia for you. AJ once faced a much younger Rollins in the independent circuit, 10 years ago. We’re certain that these two will even main event Wrestlemania someday soon. You can watch their indy encounter below:

#2 Braun Strowman/James Ellsworth

Will the mascot square off against the mountain, yet again at Survivor Series?

James Ellsworth may be in the main event picture of Smackdown Live every week. But what put him on the map was his initial encounter with Braun Strowman. Ellsworth was the first jobber who Strowman faced in the ring.

As the mascot for Team Blue, he’s certain to be at ringside. What will happen when Ellsworth squares off against the beastly Braun Strowman this time around? We hope he doesn't get squashed to an absolute pulp again. Will he get his retribution by interfering for Smackdown?

#1 The Shield

One Shield table spot is guaranteed at Survivor Series

We don’t yet know how these three men will be working with one another. Last we saw of them, the three of them were part of a Triple Threat contest at Battleground. But now that all 3 of them are babyfaces, the idea of a Shield reunion is very real indeed.

Raw has been teasing an alliance between Rollins and Reigns for a while now, and it looks almost certain that there will be a triple powerbomb table-spot at the PPV. Yes, they are on opposing sides, but considering none of the teams seem to be getting along, these three men may end up supporting each other than their own teammates.
