#2 Provides momentum to Dustin if he continues

Goldust is one of the few performers who had all the potential in the world to lead WWE as their champion. However, he failed to win even a single world championship in WWE or even WCW.

Cody revealed his opponent for Double or Nothing through a video on his YouTube channel, and it ended with Dustin uttering the words: "This is a fight that needs to end, it should've ended years ago. One last ride, or is it?"

If Dustin continues to wrestle after this match, he needs a ton of momentum to get to the top. He lingered in the mid-card and upper mid-card for the whole of his career, and a win over the boss might push him to the next level.

#1 A perfect opportunity to send a message

Cody is the mastermind behind AEW along with the Young Bucks, and is one of the Executive Vice Presidents.

Cody is simultaneously a wrestler as well as an authority figure backstage. As we saw, wrestlers with a lot of creative control don't transpire into long term benefit for the promotion.

Cody has the opportunity to send a message that he won't commit the same mistakes which others committed. This reason is similar to one of the reasons why Jericho should defeat Kenny Omega.

Even when each loss matters in AEW, Cody would always have the opportunity to redeem himself, but he could send a message when the whole wrestling community is seeing them as the Game Changers.
