Cody (C) vs Scorpio Sky (for the TNT Championship) on AEW Dynamite
Cody had the Nightmare Family accompany him into the AEW Dynamite ring while Scorpio Sky came in alone, with one of the biggest matches of his career ahead of him.
Scorpio Sky had the better of the opening exchange, dumping Cody out of the ring. Cody went back in and gave back as good as he got, this time it was Scorpio Sky who was tossed out to ringside. Back in the ring, Scorpio Sky drove his knees into Cody in the corner before Cody replied with a powerslam.
Back from the commercial break to AEW Dynamite, Cody had a submission locked in. Sky broke out and wrested control of the match. He sent Cody rib-first into the ring post and followed it up a little later with a cutter on the entrance ramp.
Cody replied with a superplex from the top rope but Scorpio Sky had the inside cradle for a nearfall. The champion followed it up with a Cross Rhodes but Sky kicked out again. Sky almost had Cody, sending him facefirst into the mat for a nearfall.
Sky went for another cutter but Cody blocked it and followed it up with a second Cross Rhodes to retain the AEW TNT Championship.
