On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted this week that Chris Jericho's contract runs for three years and allows him to work with NJPW, as well as continue his cruise.

He was negotiating with WWE until the last minute and he was negotiating with All Elite and All Elite gave him the better deal. He said it was the best deal of his career. It’s a three-year deal. He’s allowed to work New Japan Pro Wrestling as part of his deal.

The heart of the matter

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet via his YouTube channel, Chris Jericho answered questions about exactly why he chose to sign for All Elite Wrestling rather than WWE.

Life... You know. It’s one of those things. I never would have guessed it, but the last year -going from New Japan to ALL IN, to the cruise and kinda seeing how life was on the other side - I realized, like, Kenny and like The Bucks and these guys, you can make a good living outside of WWE.

Y2J went on to say the AEW offer was the biggest of his career!

Then when you have a billionaire getting involved suddenly I get the biggest offer of my career by far you know, I couldn’t say no.

As for a return to WWE? Well, Jericho said he might end up back there - but not until his AEW contract is up - confirming our previous report on his contract details.

Well I mean, maybe in three years I might go there or be associated or whatever, but for the next three years, it’s AEW. That’s where I’m signed and that’s the contract that I have.
