While WWE could use the 67-year-old in many different ways, there is a huge chance the former member of The Hart Foundation could endorse a 40-year-old superstar as the next challenger for Gunther's World Heavyweight Championship. The 40-year-old superstar in question is the former Honorary Uce, Sami Zayn.

On last week's episode of RAW, Zayn stepped up to challenge Gunther, but the latter was quick to decline his challenge. This week, Hart could walk up to Gunther and tell him that he could only be considered a great champion if he is able to defeat those who have defeated him.

The reason a scenario like this could take place is that Bret Hart is fond of Zayn's work. Also, the Canadian wrestling legend and Gunther had taken shots at each other in the past, which makes the above-mentioned scenario perfect.

Explaining what happened between Bret Hart and Gunther in the past

In 2022, WWE Clash at the Castle took place in Cardiff, Wales. This PLE received good reviews overall as it featured what many believe is one of the best WWE matches of all time between then Intercontinental Champion, Gunther, who defended his title against Sheamus.

While this match and other matches were received well by the WWE Universe, Bret Hart was critical of the same. During an interview with HN Live, Hart spoke in detail and criticized what he saw at Clash at the Castle in 2022.

He said:

"I went to a show not too long ago in Cardiff, a pay-per-view, it was embarrassing to sit in the front row and watch all the kids in the audience slap their leg as the wrestlers slap their leg in these kick spots where they pretend to kick each other with shin pads and slap sounds over and over. To realize that the crowd is in on it, the entire floor is clapping and slapping their leg. I'm going, 'We used to try and make it real, what happened?' Everybody is in on it. It's a big giant charade. I had a hard time feeling the fan part of me come to life."

On WWE's The Bump, Gunther responded to these comments made by Bret Hart, and he did not seem too pleased by it. The Austrian superstar acknowledged Hart's incredible popularity and legacy but pointed out that he would've liked to settle their differences in the ring had the veteran been active.
