Finn Balor News: Superstar returns to in-ring competition

What's the story?

Finn Balor hasn't wrestled in a few weeks after an undisclosed illness pulled him away from in-ring competition. Thankfully, though, the former Universal Champion returned to action this weekend ahead of his TLC match.

In case you didn't know...

Finn Balor was pulled from the road during the WWE's tour through South America a few weeks ago. While it was initially thought to be another injury, Balor was simply recovering from an illness. Sadly, this came at a pretty rough time for Balor, who was in the middle of the Mixed Match Challenge with Bayley.

Team B'N'B were the odds-on favorites going into the semi-finals of the tournament last week. However, due to the illness, Balor was removed from the MMC, and Bayley ended up teaming with Apollo Crews. While Bayley and Crews put on a valiant performance, they were ultimately defeated by Jinder Mahal and Alicia Fox, ending any hope for Bayley and Balor/Crews to enter the #30 spot in their respective Royal Rumbles.

With Balor being out for half a month, fans wondered if he'd be able to compete in his match against McIntyre this Sunday. Thankfully, it looks like he'll be good to go by then.

The heart of the matter

PWInsider revealed earlier today that Balor returned to the ring tonight. During a Raw Live event in Bakersfield, California, the former champion faced Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler in a Triple Threat Match.

What's next?

Finn Balor will face Drew McIntyre at WWE TLC on December 16th. The leader of Balor Club has been part of a crusade against the trio of Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, and McIntyre for months now, and a win over the Scottish Psychopath could mean big things. Since he wasn't able to get into that #30 spot in the Royal Rumble, maybe knocking off one of the top dogs will attract the attention of the WWE brass.
