The departure of Bron Breakker, Ilja Dragunov, and Carmelo Hayes means Trick Williams is the king of NXT. While Williams is currently enjoying his reign as NXT Champion, he will soon have to deal with fierce contenders if he wants to continue his reign as champion on the developmental brand.
The upcoming episode of the Tuesday Night Show will feature a 25-man Battle Royal. The winner of this match will challenge Williams for the NXT Championship at Heatwave. While WWE has a lot of capable contenders, fans could witness the return of former NXT Tag Team Champion Eric Young. The 44-year-old worked for the Stamford-based promotion between 2016 and 2020. He was released by the company in April 2020 due to COVID-19-related budget cuts.
Currently in TNA, the possibility of Young returning to the Battle Royal and potentially winning it increases because of the working relationship between WWE and TNA. Apart from that, while Young had a troubled time working under Vince McMahon, he has always been appreciative of Triple H's brand of leadership.

Hence, it won't be surprising to see Young return on the upcoming episode of the Tuesday Night Show and win the Battle Royal to book a spot against Trick Williams at NXT Heatwave. If something along these lines does end up happening, then Young can expect to receive a good reception from fans.
WWE legend refused the possibility of a match between him and Trick Williams
NXT commentator and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T is considered one of the best wrestlers of his time. During his tenure as a full-time wrestler, Booker T won the World Heavyweight Championship, the United States Championship, and the King of the Ring crown (2006), to name a few.
Recently, during an episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T was asked if he would be willing to step in the ring one last time against Trick Williams for the NXT Title. The NXT commentator denied the opportunity by saying it was Williams' time to shine.
"I’m not gonna exploit my opponent’s [Trick Williams] inexperience in this situation. No, man, I'm done. I wouldn't want to [wrestle Williams]. You know what? Trick is me. Right now, he's in his prime, man! He's getting ready to blow it up; he is getting ready to take over the world. I want to see that kid take over the world. I don’t want to be in there trying to mix it up with this kid or anything like that. I mean, he is the future of this business. I want to be able to step aside and be that dude in the passenger seat navigating this kid’s career to that next level," he said. [From 07:18 to 08:00]
Even though a match between Booker T and Trick Williams seems exciting, the former's evaluation of the situation seems right. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see which superstar earns a shot at Trick's NXT Title on the upcoming episode of the developmental brand.
