From the Impact Wrestling Rumor Mill: Impact Wrestling interested in Jeff Cobb

What's the story?

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Impact Wrestling are interested in signing Jeff Cobb.

In case you didn't know...

Even though he is better known for his work with Lucha Underground as Matanza Cueto, Cobb, alongside current tag team partner Matt Riddle, is one of professional wrestling's two biggest underground sensations.

He also participated in the 2017 NJPW World Tag League, alongside Michael Elgin. They finished with 4 wins and 3 losses, failing to reach the finals.

However, the duo notoriously failed to coexist with Elgin making derogatory comments about Cobb in text messages which were leaked to the public before the conclusion of the tournament.

The heart of the matter

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Impact Wrestling have been in talks with Cobb, but they couldn't strike a deal in time for the most recent set of tapings.

The Hawaii native reportedly wants to perform more regularly for NJPW and is also set to return for the next season of Lucha Underground. However, the report states that Cobb's Lucha Underground contract wouldn't preclude him from working for Impact Wrestling.

What's next?

Lucha Underground season 4 will premiere in 2018, and Jeff Cobb is all set to reprise his role as "The Monster" Matanza Cueto.

Jeff Cobb is an athletic worker who is capable of putting on stellar matches. Even though he is 35 and probably not as marketable as his tag team partner, Matt Riddle, WWE should consider signing him as he could be an asset for NXT.
