From the Impact Wrestling Rumor Mill: Impact Wrestling abandons Hall Of Fame?

Impact Hall Of Fame has seemingly been scrapped
Impact Hall Of Fame has seemingly been scrapped

What’s the story?

As noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Impact Wrestling has reportedly abandoned its Hall Of Fame that was to induct new members at Bound For Glory (BFG) 2017.

On that note, the names which were initially proposed for the ceremony, as well as the reason behind Impact Wrestling cancelling the ceremony altogether were also discussed.

In case you didn’t know…

Impact Wrestling has inducted several notable professional wrestling performers into the Impact (formerly TNA) Hall of Fame.

With the recent rumours of the promotion scrapping its Hall Of Fame, the only members inducted into the prestigious group are Sting, Kurt Angle, Jeff Jarrett, Earl Hebner, Gail Kim and Team 3D.

The heart of the matter

With Jeff Jarrett briefly returning to Impact Wrestling a few months ago, management had planned for his fath Jerry to be inducted into the Impact Hall Of Fame Class of 2017. However, it would all prove for naught as Jarrett parted ways with Impact Wrestling and its parent-company Anthem on poor terms earlier this year.

Furthermore, there was also talk of highly-respected announcer Mike Tenay being accorded a spot in the Hall Of Fame, however, that didn’t come to fruition either. Besides, James Storm, who recently left the company, was not included in the list of potential names for Impact’s 2017 Hall Of Fame class.

Resultantly, the promotion has cancelled the Impact Hall Of Fame in its entirety.

Author’s take

Well, it’s disappointing to see Impact quite literally abandon its Hall Of Fame.

Especially when one considers the dozens of talented performers who’ve spent their blood, sweat and tears for the promotion over the years. Here’s hoping they sort out whatever issues there be; and get things under control.
