What’s the story?

As reported by Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline, a few details regarding the ongoing situation between WWE and Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn are incorrect.

Meltzer revealed that although their relationship with the WWE isn’t as strained as it was initially reported, whether the two Superstars return to SmackDown Live next week solely depends on Vince McMahon’s discretion.

In case you didn’t know…

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were recently ‘sent home’ by the WWE during the promotion’s European tour, resulting in their scheduled appearances at the blue brand’s ensuing live events being cancelled.

In reference to the same, the professional wrestling community has been abuzz ever since, with rumours suggesting that Owens and Zayn had irked the WWE higher-ups, which, in turn, caused the bosses to send them home from the tour.

The heart of the matter

Veteran pro-wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer expounded on the entire fiasco, stating:

"There's a lot of untrue info… for one, the story of Owens being mad on the tour bus after the tapings isn't accurate (and) he was not even on the bus after the tapings.”

“The finish of the match was exactly as it was supposed to be (and) the post-match is a story that is being told different ways depending on how you hear it but that is the point of contention, but that is the thing, any other stories are not accurate as it pertains to them being sent home. None of this has to do with Neville, Jimmy Jacobs, etc."

Furthermore, Meltzer explained that whether Owens and Zayn return to SmackDown Live next week depends on the decision made by WWE boss Vince McMahon. He also emphasized that neither Owens nor Zayn is looking to leave the WWE.

What’s next?

This week’s episode of Smackdown Live saw a huge increase in viewership (the details on 2017’s viewership can be found right here).

Next week’s edition of SmackDown Live may see the return of Owens, Zayn and Paige.

Author’s take

The entire situation surrounding Owens and Zayn being sent back from the European tour seems strange, to say the least.

Regardless, here’s hoping all parties get on the same page, and refrain from dampening the spirits before Survivor Series.
