From the WWE Rumor Mill: Possible reason behind John Cena and Nikki Bella's breakup 

What's the story?

The WWE Universe received some shocking news a couple of days ago when it was reported that WWE's most famous couple - John Cena and Nikki Bella - had broken off their engagement and separated as a couple after 6 years of being together.

Now, CagesideSeats (originally reported by People.com) has reported the possible reason behind their break-up.

In case you didn’t know…

John Cena and Nikki Bella had been in a romantic relationship for more than six years now, and they got engaged on the grandest stage last year when John Cena proposed to Nikki after their match against The Miz and Maryse at WrestleMania 33.

However, the couple faced their share of issues in the relationship, as documented on E! Network show Total Divas and later, Total Bellas. John Cena supposedly never wanted to get married or have kids, while Nikki wanted those things out of the relationship. Though they did get engaged last year, it is sad to see that they didn't eventually get married.

The heart of the matter

People.com now reports that it was indeed these same problems that came back to haunt the couple. In fact, according to the site, a source close to Nikki has supposedly revealed that it was she who broke off the engagement, as she felt that John Cena's heart really wasn't in getting married.

Cena was reportedly making it apparent time and again that he was not exactly going through this willfully, but was going into it 'gritting his teeth the whole way', and was behaving like he was doing Nikki a favour.

Of course, though reported as being revealed by a source close to the former Divas Champion, none of this information can be taken as fact unless we hear it directly from either John or Nikki.

The 16-time World Champion tweeted out something of a motivational message on his official Twitter handle:

What's next?

John Cena is scheduled to take on Triple H at the Greatest Royal Rumble event, while Nikki Bella's next appearance on WWE programming has not been announced.

It is indeed very disheartening to see the beautiful couple break up after being together for so long, and especially after their amazing moment last year at WrestleMania 33. We at Sportskeeda would like the best to happen to both John Cena and Nikki Bella and wish them luck going ahead.
