From the WWE Rumor Mill: The Undertaker has been training for WrestleMania 34 for months

What's the story?

After the match was left unconfirmed, even after the go-home episode of Raw before WrestleMania, everyone is wondering, will John Cena vs Undertaker take place at WrestleMania?

After WWE released some printed materials that may give away the answer, it's now been revealed that The Undertaker has spent months getting in shape for the match.

In case you didn't know...

After his WrestleMania 33 loss against Roman Reigns, only his second Mania loss in history, Undertaker seemingly retired when he left his hat, gloves and coat in the ring in an emotional exit to close out the pay-per-view, only to make a special appearance at Raw 25.

The heart of the matter

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the match has been in the can for months with Undertaker focusing on getting in shape to ensure he can compete with Cena at a high level.

“Cena vs. Undertaker has been planned for WrestleMania for months, and Undertaker has been training for the match. Undertaker will obviously be in New Orleans to confront Cena.

The thought is that, with the card so stacked, WWE could afford to keep the match somewhat of a mystery and not have Undertaker show up during the build.

WON also added that, at 53 years of age and having not wrestled for a year, The Undertaker has been getting back into fighting shape for the past few months. It should be noted that Undertaker has also reportedly had surgery in that time.

What's next?

Hopefully the match on Sunday! While it's still unconfirmed, all signs point to John Cena vs The Undertaker at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans this weekend.

Author's take

WWE have been pretty smart about this.

In truth, Undertaker hasn't been needed to build WrestleMania, and as he hasn't accepted the match on television, it means his appearance on Sunday will be incredibly refreshing.

Many people were disappointed with last year's match, with Undertaker not looking to be in great shape - so the fact that he's been training for months will be welcome news for the WWE Universe, and the match will feel like a bonus on top of what's already shaping up to be an incredible WrestleMania.

What is still a mystery is how we get there. Will Undertaker just come out and call out Cena from the crowd? I've discussed how I think it happens here.
