From the WWE Rumor Mill: Will there be any title changes before WWE Survivor Series 2017?

What's the story?

RAW General Manager Kurt Angle announced this past Monday that Survivor Series would once again be a battle for brand supremacy. The champions of the two brands will do battle on the show, which makes for some unappealing matches. Will WWE change any titles before November 19? Cagesideseats.com doesn't seem to think so.

In case you didn't know...

Survivor Series takes place on November 19, and once again the show will be about RAW vs. SmackDown matches. WWE Champion Jinder Mahal is to go up against WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar in the main event, and the rest of the card includes numerous champion vs. champion bouts.

Alexa Bliss and Natalya will go one-on-one in a battle of women's champions, whilst The Usos and Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose will compete to see which tag team championship is better.

The heart of the matter

WWE United States Champion Baron Corbin will go up against Intercontinental Champion The Miz, and it is this uninspiring bout that has led many to speculate that WWE may look to change a championship ahead of Survivor Series.

Cagesideseats.com is speculating that WWE has no plans to switch any championships before Survivor Series, so the matches currently announced will go ahead as planned. This means that The Miz and Baron Corbin will go one-on-one in Houston on November 19.

As always, plans can change in WWE at a moment's notice. Of the two champions, Corbin would appear to be in a less stable position considering his relatively recent win and consecutive losses to Sin Cara, whereas The Miz has been featured in the upper echelons on RAW for most of 2017.

What's next?

There is less than a month to go until Survivor Series, and enthusiasm for the last of 2017's Big Four events is worryingly low. The cross-brand matches don't inspire much in the way of excitement, and WWE has a job on its hands to drum up some hype over the next four weeks.

A surprise championship switch may yet come to pass.

Author's take

The Miz vs. Baron Corbin is as unappealing a WWE match as one can think of in the current climate. Both men are plodding at best inside the ring, and are reliant on working with elite performers at the best of times. This match needs to be changed.

As for the other championships, the lack of title matches at Survivor Series doesn't mean there won't be any switches on November 19. Someone is still lurking with a Money in the Bank briefcase after all...
