Roman Reigns is nearing 1000 days as WWE Universal Champion

Roman Reigns' run as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion is filled with many memorable moments. He has defended the title against top names like Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes, and more. From the looks of it, he is set to face more major stars in the future.

Roman Reigns became the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion on April 3, 2022, at WrestleMania 38 by defeating Brock Lesnar. As of this writing, he is 416 days into his iconic title run. However, he has held the Universal Championship for 996 days, winning the coveted title at Payback 2020.

It was reported that WWE wanted to update its history books, meaning it could include longer title reigns and new names. It was also reported that the Stamford-based promotion is planning to have The Tribal Chief walk into WrestleMania 40 and 41 as world champion. However, this would only happen if he didn't suffer severe injuries or transition to Hollywood in that period.

With this in mind, Roman Reigns might be the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion until SummerSlam 2024. By then, he would have already crossed Hulk Hogan's 1,474 days title reign from 1984 to 1988.

Roman Reigns will hit 1000 days as WWE Universal Champion on May 27, 2023. This is also the same day as the Night of Champions premium live event in Saudi Arabia. The Tribal Chief is slated to be in action with Solo Sikoa against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn for the Undisputed Tag Team Championship.

Roman Reigns could tie another major WWE milestone if he headlines WrestleMania 40

It would be an impressive achievement if Reigns walked into next year's WrestleMania as champion. However, The Head of the Table might be looking to tie a major record at the show.

WrestleMania 40 (WrestleMania XL) will be held at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadephia, Pennsylvania. Like in recent years, it will be a two-night affair, possibly taking place on April 6 and 7, 2024.

If The Tribal Chief headlines either one of the nights, he will tie Hulk Hogan's record for most 'Mania main events at eight. Since reports have also suggested Roman possibly headlining WrestleMania 41, he can even break The Hulkster's record.
