Impact Wrestling News: Jeff Jarrett suggests that Impact and GFW could become one

Jeff Jarrett is currently the Executive Producer of Impact Wrestling

What’s the story?

Jeff Jarrett returned to Impact Wrestling a little more than a month ago. He currently holds the title of the Executive Producer of Impact Wrestling and also runs his own promotion called Global Force Wrestling.

In a recent interview with the Hannibal TV, Jarrett discussed upcoming plans for Impact Wrestling and whether a GFW/Impact merger was on cards or not.

In case you didn’t know...

Jeff Jarrett, the co-founder of TNA Wrestling, launched a new promotion named Global Force Wrestling (GFW) in 2014 after resigning from TNA. Jarrett also got rid of his minority stake in TNA to focus on nurturing his newly formed promotion.

After Anthem Sports took over TNA, they reappointed Jarrett as the Executive Consultant of the company and later made him the Executive Producer. Jarrett is currently at the helm of the Impact Wrestling and takes the day to day decisions for the company.

The heart of the matter

In the interview, Jarrett was inquired about Impact's future plans to which he responded by saying that while he couldn’t reveal too much information, he and his team were very excited.

He further said that a lot of people were returning to Impact Wrestling and a lot of activities were happening in both GFW and Impact.

He also addressed how their expansion in the United Kingdom has kept them busy for the last month and a half, as Anthem Sports has worked out a deal with ITV to revive World Of Sport Wrestling. He also said that Impact will return to the UK to Spike TV on 21st April 2017 and requested the fans to tune in.

When asked whether GFW was still doing well, Jarrett replied:

“Oh absolutely. In the weeks, days, months, however that saying goes, more will come out. But yeah, Global Force and Impact are becoming one day-by-day.”

What’s next?

As Jeff Jarrett is the Executive Producer of Impact Wrestling and the owner of Global Force Wrestling, we can't let this statement go unnoticed.

There have been collaborations between the two promotions in the past and due to this statement from Jarrett, we can claim that there is a high possibility of witnessing a merger in the future.

Author’s take

Impact Wrestling is being rebuilt under its new majority stakeholders, Anthem Sports.

Since Anthem Sports has taken over TNA, a number of high-profile names have left Impact Wrestling. The new contracts offered by Anthem demands higher cuts from the income received by performers from other promotions and also pays talent per night instead of per taping.

Both promotions will benefit from a merger as Impact will be able to use the talent from GFW as many of their top-tier wrestlers have bid adieu and people associated with GFW will get to operate on a higher platform.
