Impact Wrestling Results (11 May 2017): Magnus vs. Alberto El Patron for the GFW Global Championship

The show was headlined by Alberto El Patron and Magnus

The show started off with a vignette that chronicled the buildup to the main event between Patron and Magnus.


#1 Desmond Xavier vs. Andrew Everett vs. Matt Sydal vs. Caleb Konley

Sydal took down Konley with a hurracanrana. Everett then took Sydal over with a hurracanrana of his own. Konley pulled the same stunt over Everett. Xavier attempted a hurracanrana on Konley but was tossed off his shoulders.

Konley then hit Everett with a springboard moonsault for a near fall. After a few roll-up attempts, Sydal caught Xavier in a modified Indian death lock and Konley had Everett in a clover leaf.

Both men reached the ropes to force the break. Sydal hit his standing leg drop on Everett and a Franchiser on Xavier at the same time. Sydal then went to the top rope but Xavier stopped him with a kick to the head.

Xavier then connected with a Frogsplash on Konley for a near fall. Sydal attempted a leaping head scissors on Xavier, but the latter landed on his feet. Andrew Everett used the opportunity to hit a Frankendriver on Xavier and pin him to win the match.

Winner- Andrew Everett

In a show of sportsmanship, Sydal shook Everett’s hand after the match.


In a backstage segment, EC3 arrived at the arena. He called out James Storm for not showing up for the Impact tapings last week. EC3 claimed that Storm should be called ‘Coward’ rather than ‘Cowboy.’ He promised to give the audience a ‘Cowboy.’

EC3 came out to Storm’s music dressed like Stan Hansen.

ECowboy3, as he called himself, said that he was there to pay homage to the coward James Storm. ECowboy3 started singing a song about costing James’ a match for the Impact Title.

Storm’s music hit again and this time Storm ran in behind ECowboy3. Storm pummeled ECowboy3. ECowboy3 hit Storm with his cowboy boot in the head and handcuffed him to the middle rope. EC3 then took off his belt and whipped the lights out of Storm.


#2 Hakim Zane and Idris Abraham vs. Laredo Kid and Garza Jr.

Garza Jr. and Laredo started with some tandem moves. Kid picked Zane up in an electric chair and then a wheel-barrow splash. Abraham and Zane tried to double team Garza but their efforts were laid to waste when Garza Jr. countered and knocked them down.

Garza powerbombed Abraham on top of Zane. Laredo pinned Zane after hitting a 450 splash off the top rope.

Winners- Laredo Kid and Garza Jr.


#3 Laurel Van Ness (w/Kongo Kong) vs. Ava Storie

Laurel Van Ness fought the match in a wedding dress. Van Ness made short work of Ava as she downed her with a boot to the back of the head. After the match, Kongo Kong entered the ring and stood tall beside Van Ness.

Winner: Laurel Van Ness


LAX in-ring funeral segment

LAX then reached the arena to the sound of gunshots and an ominous theme. They had their faces painted with black and white strokes and carried urns. They were there to pay respect to Decay.

Konnan then asked Santana and Ortiz to dump the ashes. The feed then cut to Rosemary watching the proceeding from the rafters. Konnan announced that they would be entering the GFW tag title tournament.

Konnan took issue with a fan waving an American flag and threatened to take it away from him. At that instant, VOW’s music hit and the duo of Mayweather and Wilcox rushed down to take out Santana and Ortiz.


#4 Moose(C) vs. Marshe Rockett for the Impact Grand Championship

Round One: Rockett gained the advantage in the first minute with a Harlem Sidekick. Moose battled back and hit Marshe with a dropkick. Moose then went on to land some heavy blows on Marshe in the last few minutes of the round

Round One winner- Moose

Round Two: Moose took control of the match in the second round as he quickly finished Marshe with a pop-up powerbomb and a standing moonsault. He then nailed the victory with a Go to Hell chokeslam.

Round Two winner- Moose

After the match, Tyrus walked on to the ring and distracted Moose. Eli Drake used the opportunity to attack Moose. Tyrus hit Moose with a heart punch. Adonis then joined the fray in attacking Moose. He kept hold of Moose as Eli Drake continued the assault with a chair.

In a backstage segment, Dutch Mantell announced that there will be an Ultimate X match next week for the X division title.


#5 Angelina Love w/Davey Richards vs. Alisha w/Eddie Edwards

Alisha attacked Love as soon as the bell rung. The action went out of the ring as the two women pounded each other with some solid blows. Alisha slammed Love’s head into the apron and the barricades.

She then rolled Love back into the ring but was then hit with a clothesline. Love continued the offensive with some curb stomps. Love then missed a bicycle to allow Alisha to hit the future shock DDT. Richards got on the apron to distract the referee while Love hit Alisha with a chain. However, the referee saw the chain and disqualified Love.

Winner: Alisha Edwards.

After the match, Love kept on hitting Alisha. Eddie came to the ring to check on his wife when Richards hit him with his own crutch. He then yelled at Edwards asking him to stay down.


Magnus (c) vs. Alberto El Patron for the GFW Global Championship

Magnus and Patron started the match by exchanging punches.

Magnus forced El Patron in the corner. The wily EL Patron used his in-ring psychology to lock in the cross arm breaker in between the ropes. El Patron got a near fall with a basement dropkick.

However, Magnus managed to pick up the initiative when he caught El Patron with a suplex. Another Back suplex by Magnus earned him a two count over Patron. Magnus then went for a side headlock.

El Patron reversed the move into a back suplex of his own. El Patron then locked Magnus in a rear chin lock. Magnus regained control with a chinbreaker. Magnus tried to climb up the top rope but El Patron stopped him, leading to both men falling outside the ring.

The action continued after a break where EL Patron and Magnus traded strikes. Patron connected with a step up enziguri in the corner. El Patron missed the basement head kick on Magnus allowing him to drop Patron with a Michinoku driver.

Magnus then hit Patron with a top rope elbow drop and covered him for the win. However, EL Patron kicked out at two. Magnus attempted to lock in the cloverleaf but Patron fought out of it.

Magnus took the action out of the ring and suplexed Patron on the ring ramp. Patron barely managed to beat the count and made it back to the ring. El Patron then locked in the cross arm-breaker but Magnus managed to get a hold of the ropes.

Magnus then rolled to the outside in a ploy to get himself counted out. El Patron tossed Magnus into the ring. El Patron dived off the top rope but Magnus kicked him in the gut. Magnus then got the cloverleaf on EL Patron but the latter managed to reach the ropes.

El Parton then attempted another arm-breaker but Magnus chop blocked him. El Patron then dropped Magnus in a tree of woe. El Patron missed the double foot stomp allowing Magnus to powerbomb him into the mat.

Magnus went on to pick up El Patron in a fireman’s carry only for Patron to reverse it into the cross arm-breaker. Magus was in immense pain and had no option but to tap out.

Winner- Alberto El Patron becomes the new GFW Global Champion
