Sami Zayn ended his five-year dry spell in WWE when he beat Braun Strowman at Elimination Chamber to capture his first main roster singles Championship. The current Intercontinental Champion made his first successful title defense when he beat Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 36 and has been away from WWE TV ever since.

This is the best time for WWE to convince the current Intercontinental Champion to make his return to the shows. WWE has a dearth of storylines to build on and having another Championship to build a feud around would give the company some leeway.
Look who just shut down all of Tony Khan's critics! More HERE.
Zayn's return is highly anticipated as he is a Superstar that can entertain the fans in any situation. Even though his WWE run has been underwhelming when compared to his time in NXT, he can pique fans' interest. After Money In The Bank, there will be many credible Superstars who may be left without a direction, and putting them in the Intercontinental Title picture will keep them relevant.

About the author
Kishan Prasad
Kishan is a WWE writer at Sportskeeda Wrestling and has been associated with the division for 8.5 years. Even though he doesn't work at Sportskeeda on a full-time basis, writing about wrestling keeps his passion for the sport alive. He reports on important updates from wrestlers and rumors from trustworthy sources.
Kishan recalls the best match he witnessed when he was just 6 – the Hell in a Cell Match at Armageddon 2000. Watching the six men push each other to their limits and then some made him realize how incredible pro wrestling is.
He graduated as a Chemical Engineer a few years before he began his journey with Sportskeeda. A couple of years as a non-contracted writer for the website became a full-time opportunity that included managing the pro wrestling division.
Kishan's favorite wrestler is Triple H, as he can pull him into any storyline. In today's era, one can call him a Seth "Freakin" Rollins fan for the same reason. When he is not writing for Sportskeeda, Kishan works as a digital marketing professional.
