The first-ever Miss Money in the Bank was the last woman to qualify for this year's match, defeating Mandy Rose on SmackDown. Carmella has had some excellent showings in the past, especially in high-profile title matches against the likes of Charlotte Flair and Bayley.
However, it doesn't seem likely that she will re-enter the main event scene any time soon. As mentioned earlier, the future of the SmackDown Women's Championship might already be set in stone. Bayley and Sasha Banks is the main female issue on the Blue brand.
Carmella formed a tag team with Dana Brooke and that may play a part in their trajectories in the match. The 'Princess of Staten Island' is the only former Money in the Bank winner in this year's match but that wouldn't really matter, considering the competition.
In the unlikely event that she somehow wins, Carmella would be a 3-time Money in the Bank winner. She won the first two women's Money in the Bank Ladder Matches, although her first victory was voided due to interference from James Ellsworth.
