WWE Money in the Bank 2020: 5 finishes for the Women’s Ladder Match

Will the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match have a surprise ending?
Will the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match have a surprise ending?

Ascend through the corporate headquarters, reach the rooftop, climb the ladder, and retrieve the Money in the Bank briefcase. Doesn’t sound too difficult when a Championship contract is on the line, does it?

Well, it gets much tougher when you are up against five of the best Superstars in the business who have the same aim, and things get much tougher when two matches are being held simultaneously.

This year’s Money in the Bank event will be unlike any other as the Superstars of RAW and SmackDown will need to climb the ‘corporate ladder’ to pull down the briefcase and earn themselves a contract to challenge for any top Championship, any time within the next 365 days.

Dana Brooke, Asuka, Shayna Baszler, Carmella, Lacey Evans, and Nia Jax will battle for a chance to retrieve the briefcase to get themselves an opportunity unlike any other in the company.

With that in mind, we will look at the 5 ways the women's ladder match for the Money in the Bank briefcase could come to an end on May 10.

#5 Lacey Evans wins the Money in the Bank briefcase

Lacey Evans could get the push on SmackDown
Lacey Evans could get the push on SmackDown

Lacey Evans was one of the top women in NXT before she made her main roster debut during the Royal Rumble in early 2019. The company pushed Evans a lot during her initial run on the main roster, and she became one of the most prominent figures on RAW for a significant amount of time.

Evans hit gold when she was put in a rivalry against Becky Lynch that lasted months, even though she hadn’t done much in front of the WWE Universe. Her work as a heel helped her get over during the rivalry even though she did not manage to take the RAW Women’s Championship from The Man.

Since then, we’ve seen the company use Evans much less and give her lesser screen time. She’s gotten into some mid-card rivalries, especially one with Sasha Banks recently that could have taken off but hit a roadblock.

With the company already having invested so much into Evans, it would make sense if the company allows her to finally climb the corporate ladder and win the Money in the Bank contract at the event. We could see Evans fight off women like Shayna Baszler and Asuka to climb the final hurdle and pull down the briefcase to bag the contract.

She is among the most improved Superstars on SmackDown now, and a Money in the Bank briefcase win could help her become a major force on the brand.

#4 Nia Jax shows her dominance

Will Nia Jax bulldoze through her competition?
Will Nia Jax bulldoze through her competition?

Nia Jax has always been built as an unstoppable force by WWE, but her trophy case isn’t filled with as many belts as it should be.

The Irresistible Force has had a tough time since the past year, and an injury kept her on the shelf for almost the entire year. Her return has seen her dominate her opponents again, and she has squashed all of her competition to make it to the Money in the Bank ladder match.

Jax will be the most powerful woman in the match and that could work to her advantage as she climbs the WWE headquarters along with several other Superstars.

With the women of RAW looking much more set to take the briefcase home, Jax could be the Superstar who could do the most with the briefcase as she is the most threatening force on the Red brand at the moment.

We could watch Jax climb the ladder on the roof of the WWE HQ and win the briefcase, getting into the title picture immediately with one fine move. Not only will it allow her to get in contention for a championship, but it will also help the company build some interesting storylines where Jax can continue to tease a cash-in.

This could be the best way to reignite the dormant rivalry between Nia Jax and RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch!

#3 Asuka gets another chance by taking the contract

Asuka has climbed the ladder before for the SmackDown Women's Championship
Asuka has climbed the ladder before for the SmackDown Women's Championship

Asuka’s move from NXT to the main roster was seen as one of the biggest moves of the previous decade, and she did not disappoint her fans, having put up some epic performances. However, Asuka's Royal Rumble win only led to her first submission loss in WWE as she tapped out to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34.

Since then, The Empress of Tomorrow has held the SmackDown Women’s Championship and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles but has failed to win the RAW Women’s Championship from Becky Lynch.

We’ve seen Asuka’s character develop nicely since her heel turn, and she has entertained the crowd even more now than she did before. Even though Asuka has gotten a few chances recently, it would make things very interesting if she manages to win the Money in the Bank briefcase.

We could see Asuka and Shayna Baszler take the lead during the match, and then Asuka could pull off the ultimate heist, most probably with the help of Kairi Sane.

This could allow WWE to give The Empress of Tomorrow another big opportunity while letting Asuka and Baszler to get into a rivalry before she goes ahead to cash in her contract.

#2 Shayna Baszler makes it two in a row

Shayna Baszler could climb to the top once again
Shayna Baszler could climb to the top once again

Shayna Baszler made an impact immediately after arriving on the Red brand as she bit Becky Lynch on the neck and made her intentions very clear. Baszler was red hot right off the bat as she had defeated Lynch and Bayley during the 2019 Survivor Series match to gain a lot of momentum.

The two-time NXT Women’s Champion entered the Elimination Chamber match as a favorite but no one expected her to dominate the way she did as she eliminated five other women to win the match. However, she failed to win the RAW Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 36 as Lynch outsmarted her by pinning her while locked into the Kirifuda Clutch.

Baszler has been injuring her opponents to prove a point over the past several weeks, and we could see her injure the five other women during the Money in the Bank ladder match to remain the only fit women to climb the ladder and retrieve the briefcase.

This would allow the company to keep Baszler on top and give her another chance to bag a championship on RAW or SmackDown.

#1 An interference from the men's side allows an underdog to win

Will a favorite suffer a setback from one of the Men's Money in the Bank contestants?
Will a favorite suffer a setback from one of the Men's Money in the Bank contestants?

This year’s Money in the Bank ladder matches will be held simultaneously, and this will likely offer WWE a number of interesting face-offs and intergender spots that could really make the match memorable.

One woman who is likely to cause some disturbance in the men’s match is none other than The Irresistible Force, Nia Jax. We’ve seen Jax enter the Men’s Royal Rumble in 2019 and have a couple of memorable spots with Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton.

Mysterio will be part of this year’s men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, and we could see him have another spot with Jax. Alternatively, we could also see heels like AJ Styles and King Corbin come face to face with Jax and trade a few blows.

At the end of the match, we could see Jax take out all other women's competitors to climb the ladder before someone like Corbin or Styles pulls her down in revenge. This could allow an underdog like Dana Brooke or Carmella to climb the ladder and take the briefcase.

While Carmella has had a run with the briefcase in the past, this could end up being a huge opportunity for an underutilized star like Brooke. Not only will this provide more spotlight to one of the two babyfaces, but it could also allow them to become bigger Superstars again.
