WWE News: Alberto Del Rio claims WWE wanted to bring him back for a third time

Would the third time have been the charm for Alberto Del Rio?

What’s the story?

Alberto Del Rio conducted a Q&A on Periscope where he claimed that the WWE wanted to bring him back again and also stated that he wasn’t burning any bridges by the comments that he had made in previous videos.

In case you didn’t know...

Del Rio debuted in WWE in 2010 and would accomplish a lot in his initial run with the company. During his first run, Del Rio won the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship twice before his departure in 2014 citing a backstage skirmish.

Del Rio would work for AAA and Lucha Underground from 2014 to 2015 until he re-signed with the WWE. He returned at the 2015 Hell in A Cell pay-per-view against John Cena and would remain with the company until September 2016.

Del Rio’s initial comments against the WWE were made back in 2014 when he did a shoot interview discussing people like Vince McMahon and Triple H. His most recent rant took place on Periscope where Del Rio admitted that he was drunk and proceeded to insult an unnamed WWE official; believed to be Triple H.

“You remind me of one of the bosses in WWE, with the big f--kin' nose, big f--kin' pu--ies.

Ya know, I'm close to the next town. Stamford. I could pay a visit to somebody. Stamford is only forty-five minutes away. That's where all the pu--ies live, right? I could go there and just knock on someone's door, 'Hey, big nose with the small d--k’”

The heart of the matter

The following are Del Rio’s comments on possibly burning bridges by making disparaging remarks against his former employer.

"I'm not burning bridges. I don't plan on going back there, it's them already calling me to go back to that company, but I'm not going back ever, ever, ever.

I'm too happy being out of that place. It was me quitting that place, not staying in that place and not wanting to stay, even after they did everything to try to keep me in that company, I said, 'no, I don't want to be there.’”

What’s next?

Del Rio seems to be enjoying his life with Paige and his wrestling career away from the WWE, so expect don’t expect to see Del Rio back in the company anytime soon.

Despite winning championships, his last two runs didn’t really work out and a third return might have been even worse.

Author’s take

Del Rio’s continuing to speak out against the WWE will likely have no effect on any of his ventures, but it could potentially hurt Paige if she has any aspirations to work with the company when she heals from her neck injury.

Paige was already considered to be in bad standing with the WWE following her wellness suspension and showing up to non-WWE wrestling events. Paige’s standing with the company is in a very weird place and these continued controversies from her and her husband may end up burning bridges for her instead of Del Rio.
