Alberto Del Rio and Paige have been in shambles with the WWE ever since they started dating. No one knows what has really been going on but them. A couple of months ago both Paige and Del Rio failed the Wellness Policy within a day of each other.
Paige claimed that she had failed due to simply not handing over the test on time, but there was no verification on that story. Hornswoggle was someone who had previously got suspended in the same manner.
It was broken out yesterday that Paige had gotten suspended again within less than two months of her first suspension. Paige’s father said that her suspension was due to painkillers she took for her neck injury, that they were prescribed by her doctor, and that he was not going to answer any further questions.
Her boyfriend and now former-WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio recently spoke to ESPN, and he gave his take on Paige’s second suspension:
“It’s just like she said in her statement this afternoon. It’s just the same s**t, different day my friend.”
As mentioned above, Del Rio failed the Wellness Policy on 16th August. He also addressed the rumours about WWE trying to break him and Paige up:
“To be honest, I don’t care what they say or what they try to do. We are together and we are happy. I know a lot of people are not happy but regardless of whatever people say, we can be happy. We can be together. And we are going to stay together because we are happy. If someone is not comfortable or happy about it, we just don’t care. We are going to continue our life. Our families are happy and we’re happy. That’s all that matters.”
At this point, Paige’s future is very unclear. But from the looks of it, many have concluded that she intends to leave the WWE. However, her contract expires in 2019 and unless she finds a loophole to get past it, she wouldn’t be able to compete or perform elsewhere until that duration is up.
As of now, she is injured and has been given two neck surgery options. One is a short-term fix one, and the other requires a more intricate surgery that will keep her out much longer. For the time being, Paige has clearly decided to put her health over her WWE career, which is the right thing to do.
