During his WWE tenure, Baron Corbin has picked up several significant wins, and he recently looked back at the one against Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 35.

The Show of Shows in 2019 featured The Olympic Hero's retirement match, and as he was in a storyline with Baron Corbin, Vince McMahon gave Kurt Angle no option but to wrestle The Lone Wolf.

Corbin recalled, while recently speaking to Chris Van Vliet, that he believed he was going to lose to Kurt Angle heading into WrestleMania 35. Given Angle's body of work and legacy in the business, Baron Corbin was ready to lose to one of the greatest wrestlers who ever lived.

The former United States Champion even admitted he would have respected Kurt's decision to go over had the WWE legend rejected to do the job:

"To get the win, like, I thought for sure, going into that I was like, man, we're gonna send Kurt out on a high horse hand raised, me laying flat on my back. I was like, that's gonna be awesome. And then they're like, Hey, man, you're going over, and I was like, huh? Can you say that one more time? And like for Kurt to do that, like he could have said no. I would have respected Kurt, for that would have made sense."[H/T: Insight]

Baron Corbin on why he would not have had a problem letting Kurt Angle win

The Olympic gold medalist clearly was way past his prime and, due to many physical issues. Angle admittedly couldn't perform like he did in the past and decided to call it quits at WrestleMania 35.

Kurt Angle is one of the most respected names in professional wrestling, and Baron Corbin was just glad to share the WrestleMania stage with a bonafide Hall of Famer.

Corbin reminded fans that Angle had faced greats like The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, and for him to wrestle Kurt at the event itself was a dream come true, let alone getting a pinfall victory.

"It would have been, you know, I would not have been any bit upset for that. Like I'm working Kurt Angle at WrestleMania. A guy who was in the Hall of Fame, a guy who was a gold medal, a guy who has been in the ring with every superstar you can imagine, from Taker to Brock to me, just the list goes on and on and on. And I'm having a singles match at WrestleMania with this person."

Corbin also commented on whether he'd be annoyed if Kurt Angle made an in-ring return, and you can read more about it right here.
