Carlito is all set to make an appearance at a major wrestling event outside WWE. He bid farewell to the Stamford-based promotion and fans last week.

Ahead of the June 2 edition of Monday Night RAW, the veteran shared an X/Twitter update to announce his departure from the Stamford-based promotion. The former WWE United States Champion noted that the global juggernaut had decided against renewing his contract, which was set to expire in two weeks at the time.

Earlier today, the 46-year-old was announced as one of the featured guests at the upcoming Destination WrestleCon. The Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott in Newark is slated to host the convention on August 1 and 2 during the SummerSlam weekend. WrestleCon shared the update on X/Twitter:

"That's cool..."

Former WWE Superstar blames WWE creative for Carlito's departure

The 46-year-old's social media update announcing his departure took WWE fans by surprise, as the veteran was consistently being featured in backstage segments alongside other members of The Judgment Day. Former WWE Superstar Stevie Richards recently blamed the promotion's creative team for the Puerto Rican star's surprise exit.

Speaking on The Stevie Richards Show, the former WWE Hardcore Champion criticized the creative team for Carlito's dismal bookings. He added that the veteran was not given any opportunity to shine.

"So you’ve literally neutered the character. Made him a guy that just basically took finishes and bumps for people, which is fine—but then you’re not going to renew the contract when it’s your fault. Once again, creative has nothing for you. You’re not getting over. These, you know, whatever kind of gaslighting you want to put in front of a talent. This is a fake, subjective business decided by bean counters, not creative people, who just look and either nod their head or don’t. And that’s as good as a no. They didn’t. It’s their fault they didn’t get everything they could out of Carlito. Not Carlito’s fault. Absolutely not," Richards said.

Surprisingly, Carlito's most recent in-ring appearance was outside World Wrestling Entertainment. He defeated Ray Gonzalez at WWC Summer Madness 2025 to win the WWC Puerto Rico Heavyweight Championship. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the veteran.
