CM Punk cast doubt over his WWE future before going on a hiatus last month. Wrestling analyst Sam Roberts thinks it's time for The Straight Edge Superstar to return to TV and he may not be alone.

The Chicago native defeated Drew McIntyre inside Hell in a Cell at the Bad Blood Premium Live Event to culminate their lengthy rivalry. The following week, an emotionally and physically battered Punk took a leave of absence, missing Crown Jewel this past weekend.

He confronted Seth "Freakin" Rollins on his way out, seemingly planting the seeds for a rumored WrestleMania showdown next year.

With Survivor Series: WarGames right around the corner, fans have been wondering whether The Second City Saint will wrestle at the marquee show, which also marks the first anniversary of his return.

Speaking on the Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts said he sees both CM Punk and Drew McIntyre returning in time for Survivor Series: WarGames.

"Definite yes for [CM] Punk and Drew [McIntyre]...I would imagine you're gonna see a CM Punk match, maybe Punk vs. Gunther even...But I think Punk and Drew will be back very soon," Roberts said. ( From 1:14:55 onwards to 1:15:22)

Who will CM Punk face upon his WWE return?

Rumor has it that WWE has plans to book CM Punk vs. Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series: WarGames.

But that no longer seems to be the case since Damian Priest recently became the number one contender and will have a shot at The Ring General's title. However, it wasn't clarified whether the rematch between the two RAW Superstars will take place at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 30.

This leaves an open spot for The Best in the World to make his return on the flagship show and set up a blockbuster match with the winner of Damian Priest vs. Gunther.
