Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins share a decent bond as WWE Superstars. Rollins was, in fact, Rhodes' first opponent when he returned to the company at WrestleMania 38. The American Nightmare not only went on to beat The Visionary at The Show of Shows, but he did it two more times in the following months at Backlash and Hell in a Cell.
The two got along before WrestleMania 40 to battle against The Bloodline and The Rock, who tried to replace Rhodes to face Roman Reigns at The Showcase of The Immortals. However, Rollins stood by Cody's side to help him finish his story. The Visionary was one of the major reasons behind The American Nightmare dethroning Reigns as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. The two have been working closely together in the company over the last few years, and recently, the former AEW star revealed that they had produced a WWE show together.
During a recent conversation with Damian Priest on What Do You Want To Talk About? podcast, Cody shared an interesting story involving himself and Seth Rollins. The 39-year-old superstar revealed that there was an instance when he and Rollins produced a WWE event, as producers were unable to make it to the show due to a snowstorm.
"We had a situation where we needed to get to Omaha or get out of Omaha, and I thought I would be a big baller and save the day. There were no commercial flights going, they were clearly getting delayed or canceled. I got the crew a jet, and we were heading to El Paso. That was the trouble. We needed to get to El Paso from Nebraska in the middle of a snowstorm, and the only way we could do it was flying private. Ultimately, WWE stepped in and covered it for me," Rhodes said.
The American Nightmare continued:
"We had a show to do, and remember, no producers. [It was] me and Seth... We were producers, and it was a show that had a commission, so we actually had to do work. It wasn't like, 'Hey, you're good, we know your match, hey, twelve minutes,' none of that. That was all pretty much." [From 45:00 onwards]
However, things have changed now. Seth Rollins has turned heel and aligned with Paul Heyman, while Cody Rhodes has also lost the Undisputed WWE Championship.
With the Money in the Bank briefcase in hand, Rollins seemingly has his eyes on John Cena's Undisputed WWE Championship as he appeared during Cena and CM Punk's segment on this week's RAW.
Cody Rhodes will compete in the King of the Ring tournament on SmackDown
After successfully pinning John Cena in a tag team match at Money in the Bank. It was announced that Cody Rhodes will compete in the King of the Ring tournament on SmackDown.
Cody Rhodes will square off against Damian Priest, Andrade, and Shinsuke Nakamura to proceed to the semi-finals of the tournament.
The finals of the tournament will take place at the Night of Champions Premium Live Event on June 28, 2025, in Saudi Arabia. If Cody Rhodes manages to become the King of the Ring, he will get a world title shot at SummerSlam this August at MetLife Stadium.
